That thing sucks the air though. I turned it on high and put my hand over it, its crazy what it pulls.

lol, i keep my engine very clean, the off roading i do is mostly rocks, no mud or dust. Ive had it in mud before, and it still didnt get dirty. With the stock tires, i try to keep it out of the mud. Also i just started college, so ive not had much time to get her off road.

Jeepjeepster, that was a great write up with pics. Didn't realize it would be that simple. See, you never know till you try. Think I'll run out to pep boys and grab me some foam element stuff. This should be put in the how to: Section.

Here's what I did.... I got a damp towel and drapped it over the dash covering all the vent holes, turned the air on and all the dust and stuff stuck to the towel. Not as high tech as taking everything apart...but it seemed to work pretty good :)

Just pry it off straight up? Hard? I tried gently and not so gently pulling it, but it looks like it's on pretty tightly.

Yeah the wiper arms are on tight. The mini gear puller made removing them quick. Anyway I did the upgrade. I do notice the lower airflow out of the registers. On low it's almost non existent. High works good but not as forceful as it was before. Probably due to the 1/2" thick foam. I think I'll give it another try using 1/4". I would have bought 1/4 but they were out, so 1/2" it was at the time. It does function thought, which is nice to know it will work filtering the incoming air from dust/dirt, etc.
