OK, HERE IS MY STORY!

My CEL came on and I took it to the dealership. They kept it for a couple of hours and said all it needed was the computer reprogramed.(on sticker under hood it says: 56044562CF....have no idea what that is. I did some research on TSB #'s and that is not one)
COOL...left and went home. It sat in the carport for 3 days. Got back in it on the 4th day and drove it out the driveway and the danged CEL was back on!!! OMG!! :!: Took it back in and now my glow plug needed replaced. Ordered the part took it in the next day and it was replaced.

Problem:
The jeep drove better than it ever had before when the first CEL was on! Had it reprogramed and it slacked off on fuel comsumption a little but not bad. After I took it in to have the glow plug replaced....it now drives like CRAP!! There is a slow-lagging shift into overdrive and fuel consumption is WAY down...like to 13 mpg!!! (Hubby used to be a mechanic and he said that if it keeps shifting like that it will tear up the tranny in no time) I know they can't reprogram it back to the way it was..so I am stuck like chuck...and to top it all off...LAST NIGHT I ROLLED OVER 36000 MILES..NO MORE WARRANTY FOR ME EXCEPT THE POWERTRAIN!!!

1st post? Where have you been?

If the problem was reported before the warranty had expired, this should be a continuing issue under warranty until they remedy the problem.

You can usually still buy extended warranties that close to the end...

I could not remember my user name and all that mess so I just re-registered!

I will be taking it back to the shop tomorrow and raising all kinds of everlivin heck!!
I will see how much an extened warranty will cost but right now we are trying to sell one house (has been on the market for a whole year) and figure out what were gonna do with the house we are living in (a different one), so money is TIGHT until we sell the big one in Elkhart.

Update:

I dropped it off Tuesday morning as Monday they were booked. They put me in a Dodge Neon which suprised me, they do not give out "loaner" cars but they seem to always cater to me!! Called them at 4:00 and they said they were waiting got Chrysler to call them back to tell them what to do. SOOO, had to take the good ole' BRIGHT BLUE Neon home. This morning they called me and said it was the EGR valve again and they reprogramed the computer for the tranny. SO, I will take it back in 5 - 8 days when they get in the part (hopefully the parts, lbj's). I asked them since this has been happening since day one and I am now no longer under warrany, if this continues to happen will they help me out. They replied, "it is not OUR warranty, it is Chryslers. But we will not leave you stranded and we will take care of it for you!!!" :D

As DarbyWalters stated, if you took it in for the same problem prior to the vehicle going out of warranty, and the dealer didn't correct the problem, then you are still covered. Just make sure you save the original paperwork that says what the problem was in case they try to pull a fast one on you.
