I've had my Jeep since april. Have put about 8000+ miles on it. I have not had any problems with the cluch (knock on wood). As foe ESP; I had the truck taken to the dealer for an ecm reprogram. Before AND after the reflash, the ESP will force some hesitation when it senses hard acceleration during a turn or any kind of off camber movement, ie; sharp turn under accelleration, abrupt turn of the wheel hitting a dip in the road. From what I read in the owners manual, It's supposed to do that. Unless someone knows how to deactivate it, I guess we'll all just have to live with it.

Naw, I had a throwout go bad in my S-10, you can hear that from under the car... this is FOR SURE in the pedal assembly. I had my girlfriend sit in it and play around with the clutch while dad and I crawled around underneath it... nothing. She still refuses to drive it though, I've tried to talk her into it a few times.

Thanks though, Darby!

LOL, you too? I had a '99 which I bought brand new and did the clutch, clutch hydraulics, and trans on it. Boy was that fun! If I remember correctly, the noise was there but went away when the clutch was pressed in.

Anyways, not exactly sure how the clutch issue sounds for you, but when I had an '02 BMW 330ci (which I traded in for the KJ since the S-10 just didn't do winters/snow very well) I could feel a slight pop in the clutch pedal when engaging the clutch. It ened up being a broken spring in the clutch plate.

Again, just my $.02 to help you narrow down your problem. If you do have that little faith in the dealership, you should try another one. I had no faith in the dealership I was having do my repairs when I first got the KJ, but the one I go to now is awesome.

Just about everyone I know with an S-10 has had the throwout go bad in it. If you put it in Neutral and let the clutch out it sounds like a group of hamsters are running in their wheels very fast underneath the cab. That truck drove like a dream though (fairly quick V6 that could smoke some nasty tires with the 5-speed), espescially after some expensive suspension work. Sometimes I wish I still had that truck... then I remember how hard it was to drive through town without scraping my belly on something... ahh, the good old days.

Also, I went to chirp tires through a redlight and broke a U-Joint... that was real cute at 11pm 70 miles away from my town. I've heard many stories about U-Joints breaking on those trucks too.
