So today I brought my CRD in today for a glow plug failure and they went ahead and did the F23 Lower Ball Joint Recall. Now it seems that my jeep doesnt drive as straight as before. After the LBJ install should they have performed and alignment? Thanks in advance.

Well, I also had it done and they checked the alignment and it was right on the money

Alignment "should" not change with ball joint replacement. If you have a problem take it back, they may have moved something.

After ball joint replacement mine felt a little "loose". This feeling went away after about 50 miles.

I had mine done today and the service rep. said that after the LBJ replacement they would set the toe. Doesn't appear to drive any worse, actually seems to hold the road *just* a tad better...

Had my LBJ recall done this morning...... took 1hr.&12min. Not bad...I was expecting atleast 2hrs., but that's ok with me. Didn't notice any difference in the way it dirves, got home and checked everything out and looks ok, lug nuts weren't torqued evenly, but I fixed that.....

a crysler rep followed up with me and i told him of my problem. he followed up and said that crysler pays for the recall but leaves it up to the dealerships to pay for the alignments. so what my dealership does is doesnt say anything, and if there is the problem they make you pay for the alignment...so its back to argueing with the dealer

that's probably because changing ball joint should not change alignment. Otherwise it's like changing a defective water pump under warranty and not including the coolant in the deal.

Don't know what year you have or how many miles are on it, but you are allowed one alignment in the first 12/12,000mi. Hope you can get it handled ok. Even if you have to pay, much cheaper than tires, unless you are looking to get rid of the O.E.M. ST's.
