When I pull the E-brake handle ('03 w/4 wheel disc) it comes all the way up yet the KJ still attempts to roll on a hill very slightly. Is there an adjustment? How? :?:

My brand new 06 had to have the cable replaced...some how it became broken..you might want to take it to the dealer and have them check the tencioner for the cable or teh cable itself....JMO

Our '04 had to have the e-brake shoes replaced after only 1 year because they came apart and would not hold, they liked to make a howling noise though.

You might have to fiddle with the star adjuster for the brake drum shoes within the rear disc brakes. It controls the amount of tension given for the parking/e-brake.

Ive had problems with mine all along - always on the list but dealer never got to it - now out of warranty.

Stealer - Have been told ebrake is fully automatic adjustment

What I Have heard - Many ebrake units (what you pull on) Have been replaced

What I have done (So I did not have to deal with the stealer)
-----Manually adjust the rear brakes with a screw driver at the rear brakes and
-----Pull on it like HE double hockey sticks on it
-----Now Im ok it seems to be adjusting OK

I am having the same problem. It seems when I pull my E-Brake, it comes all the way up and I do feel that it is not holding the jeep in place. I was going to get under the Jeep over the weekend to see how to adjust the ebrake.

I have the 03 with 4 wheel disk also.

Mine did the same thing. With the disk brake rear end, the e-brake is actually a drum set up inside the disk. To adjust, pull up on the brake lever three clicks. Jack up the rear end (use jack stands), put the vehicle in neutral. Crawl under with a drum brake adjusting spoon (the angle of the spoon makes it way easier than using a screw driver). There is a black rubber rectanglular plug on the backing plate, that is the adjusting port for the ebrake. Tighten each adjuster so you cannot run the wheel forward or back. Release the parking brake and make sure there is no drag. Reset the brake about three clicks, and check to make sure you cannot turn the wheels by hand.
