When I leave the CRD sitting overnight and back up in the morning, there is a light clunk kind of noise coming from the right rear of the CRD. It is always parked overnight on level ground and after I drive forward for even just a few feet, when I back up again, no more noise. Had the dealer check the fluids in the transfer case and they were fine. Transmission fluid is fine too. Any ideas?

Might not be the same thing you're talking about, but my morning clunk used to drive me crazy. Then I did thorough testing on it and found it to be the swing-gate locking mechanism engaging. It seems to engage upon initial movement, unlike the door that auto-lock at a higher speed.

Like I said, I don't know if that's the type of "clunk" that you're talking about, but it's what mine does.

I have the same problem only then I get a thunka-thunka-thunka in the back until the car is rolling for about 1/2 mile. There is a service bulliten that addresses the problem and has quite an extensive brake fix including calipers and rotors. Someone on here suggested that I print the Chryser bulliten and take it in with me. I'll try to enclose it here. if it doesn't work, the number is 05-004-06,
