I stumbled across another fuel additive that seems to be getting rave reviews. When I had my boat diesel tank cleaned and the fuel polished the chap strongly recommended that I get some Pri-D. Then again at the fuel dock it was brought up as the only additive they now sell. All the commercial boats are using it.

http://www.priproducts.com/tests.htm

The reviews and tests look positeve and it's used at the rate of ~1 oz per 16 gallons or so. Comes out to about $0.03 per gallon. (I'm retired so don't trust my math)

Has anyone in this group see or used this snake oil?

It's good stuff, especially if you are looking for a fuel stabilizer. It does a much better job than Power Service as a stabilizer. However I don't think it has a cetane enhancer like Power Service does. So, I guess it depends on your goal.

The ASTM D2274 test is particularly useful in determining both the storage stability and thermal stability of a particular diesel fuel. The more thermally stable the fuel, the less carbon mass is formed as the fuel heats during combustion. Fuels treated with PRI-D achieve much better thermal stability, hence produce far less waste carbon deposits on engine components and far less carbon particulates in the exhaust stream. The fuel also is more fully combusted, creating greater energy and fuel efficiency. This is precisely how PRI-D works.

The bold italics above are interesting...anything to lessen soot and particulate matter is a good thing...EGR. Maybe since it is so cheap at 1 oz to 16 gallons, it would be a good thing to add with PS.

I noticed that info and wondered if it would have a positive impact on EGR valves. The FAQ statement about cetane enhancing was provactive. Pri-D doesn't increase cetane but improves performance in a differant manner.

Read all the FAQ's, they really are interesting. I'm going to give it shot and see what happens.
