Just got off the phone with the dealer to do the normal oil change (Free oil changes).. They looked me up and said.. There is a recall on it and the parts will be ordered today. When you bring it in on saturday to have the oil changed we will perform the recall... Man.. Now that is service.. All I wanted was my oil changed.. LOL Rick Hendrick Jeep rules.. These people are great...

Mine act like they've never heard of the recall. They claim they don't even have the parts in yet. WTF!

That is the proper proceedure. If the dealer has your VIN on file, or they take it over the phone they can immediately tell you if there are any recalls. Unless they checked with the Parts Dept, be prepared for them to tell you the parts are on back order.

My dealer said they couldn't order the parts in and they had to wait for DC to send them. I am on a waiting list and I am 25th! I am not to worried about it yet though since my Jeep hasn't rolled over 9k yet. But I thought I heard of the LBJ failure occuring sometimes before 20k so maybe I should be worried. :(

It seems to vary on the mileage but I had mine replaced with just over 60K on the OD and they were *just* starting to show play. Just check them every couple of weeks and yo should be fine until the recall is done on it.

My dealer called me to schedule the recall - guess I spend way too much $ there.

It's great to hear about the good dealers out there as well as the ones to avoid.

Went in Monday with my coupon in hand for service. The service advisor said they would do the ball joint recall while it was in for service. Picked it up after lunch with no hassle. Got my oil and filer change plus front wiper. The service advisor said the old ball joints were allready out of spec. 7,800 miles on the kj. Total bill $19.20.

Rich Hendrick sounds familiar. My mom lives in Summerville and my brother in Goose Creek. I lived in the Lowcountry for 8 years in the 1980s. Good times. If I'm ever down there in the KJ, we can try to hook up and go wheeling.

What gives with all these 05 KJs getting the recall before my '03? I thought Daimler Chrysler set this up to service vehicles in the order in which they were built. ??? Have you all received the recall letter in the mail yet? I haven't. I guess I'll just try to schedule the work and see what happens. My Jeep's got nearly 44K miles on it, so I'm a little worried.

I have an 05 haven't received a letter yet. When I sheduled my appointment to have the emergency brake and TPMS sensor fixed and they said they'd do the recall at the same time. I'm going in tomorrow to get all three things done.
