All I can say is Sirius is the heat! Ihave had it for about two years now and like many others have not listened to regular fm since. When i bought it it was about 70 bucks for the car kit and anmother 30 for the home kit. You just take the reciever out of the cradle in the car and pulg it in to the stereo in the house or teh garage in my case adn you are good to go. If you have it jsut in you vehicle it more than likely will not work while you are in the garage. The antenna mounted on the toip of your ride only works when it has a direct line of sight with the satelites overhead. So in other words too if you have a roof rack adn stuff up top you wan to place the antenna in an open spot with no obstructions above it.

So I have to have another antenna? My HU is ready...meaning I can buy the adapter to plug in the back. I am thinking of going portable instead because I would listen more in my garage/home more than the Jeep. How do you connect a portable to the HU though? does this use the old cd changer fm modulator principle?

My Sportster Replay uses the FM modulator, although it is very very powerful. I can take over most frequencies to use it. I would recommend it. I was waxing the Jeep in the garage this morning and got to listen to Sirius Octane on the stereo out there because of the modulator. As far as the antenna goes, it is very small and you can run it through the 3rd brake light no problem.

I have had both working for different stealerships. Both have good and bad but they are great. Go for it and enjoy all the football you like.

Yep you will still need another antenna. It really isn't that big of a deal though very tiny and low profile. The thing is though now if you get the car setup for your HU you will have nothing to use in your garage/house. Your HU acts as the Sirius reiever so there is nothing to take out and plug into your house garage/stereo. The only way you can do that is if , like you said, get a portable unit. Hope this info is helping you out. So is it the stockl HU or an after market?

It's a pioneer. We went to best buy and I looked at portable units. I am not a big fan of the 'boom' boxes for Sirius. They looked a little cheaply built. I think I'll go with a home/car hook up and run it through my car and home stereo. I just now have to buy speakers to run out to the garage from my home set up.

Another thing to remember is that Sirius comes with online streaming music. So, if youre near a computer most of the time, you can just use that and spare the expense of the home kit. I am set with mine between the Jeep's fm modulater, the computer, and the Sirius that comes on Dish Network.

Nice! Trust me you will not be disappointed with Sirius! You have so many choices! Me I am a huge metal head and love to actually be able to have a channel dedicated to it!! Say bye bye to FM forever!

Sirius 15% off with code 'BUFFETT". Found it on techbargains this morning. Not sure of the details, just that it's expiring soon and it's from sirius.com. So if you were planning on buying something, I suggest trying out that coupon code first.

You can also choose for each NFL game which broadcast you want to hear, the home team or the away team which is great. Also you get a computer sign in for the website and can listen to music on your computer. I put an FM transmitter in my computer so I can listen to Sirius on any FM radio in the house and Howard Stern as well. Not sure if the NFL games are avialable on the website or not. Anyone else know? I think they are not streamed on the website.

If your new head unit has an aux in port I would highly recommend using that to listen to your XM/Sirius. The sound is much better and more reliable than the FM modulator. All you need is a cable from Radio Shack. It will have a headset jack on one end and the audio RCA jacks on the other (red and white) With the external/portable this is the best sound your gonna get.

I am very dissapointed in the Sirius music sound quality the last year or so. They have compressed the music so much (to allow more stations) the dynamic range is comparable to casette, not cd. I have a good aftermarket system in my Libby with the reciever hardwired. Listening to their music is very disappointing. Its too bad too, it was much better in the past.

I pretty much listen to it during my afternoon commute, but only for the comedy stations and Playboy Radio.
