Also, the trail is pretty low in elevation and the hills are pretty rolling, not straight up or down the whole way like a lot of trails we do. I'll be taking the wife's ZJ this time, which is stock except for 2.5" lift and 31's.

For the Colorado Springs guys, lets still meet at the McDonalds in Woodland Park, and leave out of there by 0830. Takes about an hour from there.

Just a word of caution looking for the trail. The main trail is FS 212. It is on the east side of the road on the inside of a sharp turn, and up the little hill a bit, so it is very difficult to see. There are a lot of trails in the area, so be sure to print out the topo map on trail damage. I haven't run the trail FS 212-A, but it is much easier to find, and it does meet up at the trail head of China Wall. Here's an idea to make this easier. What do you say we meet at FS 212-A, which is a big open area right next to the road, and easy for anyone coming from either diection to see the group sitting there, were as, as Pete knows, people will keep passing the FS212 road several times and you can't see the group from the road. How's that sound?

@Martin,

Are you referring to the western trail head just south of Tarryall and near the 8770 elevation mark on this topo map?

I think you are referring to the FS 204, which is on the other side of 212. 212A is south of 212. It is not on the topo, but it meets up with 212 just about 50 meters west of the left and right fork at the beginning of china wall.

@Joel...you want to meet up at the Safeway/Starbucks in Conifer at 8am again? (this goes for other Denver area people as well)

@Ted...Re: the F150 According to Traildamage there are some very tight turns that are supposed to be tough for mid-sized and full-sized vehicles. Might want to rethink the F150.

Okay, just got a weather report from a guy that lives 11 miles from the trail. They have 3-4" of snow on the ground right now. I think the trail is a level 3 if you take all the bypasses so that shouldn't be a problem. Plus if it is mostly a rock surface then I bet the trail is free of snow for the most part...grassy and dirt areas would still be covered for sure though. Not a problem for me, but I just want to confirm that everyone else is still planning on going tomorrow...so?

Sorry guys, I have to bail on this one. Was really looking forward to it. Son (6mo) came down with strep throat and my wife is tripping on me that I want to let her dad watch him. (sunday she works, I usualy watch our son) However this should get me a for sure rain card for the next run/event.... I haven't been on this trail so was realy wanting to check this out, but not worth pissing off the wife that much to do so. I'll be watching the forums for info on the next run. :cry:

For the springs guys, it looks like Paul, Pete (?), Ted, Myself, Mike, and Teds friend/troop. Troy is out of town. I can't think of anyone else.

I wish we could regularly get more members from the Boulder-Denver metro area to participate. You would think with 4x the population of the CS area we could get a few more semi-regular people than myself and David...(not counting the Castle Rock members in the metro area).

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

Hey, hopefully people check this tomorrow morning or later, I forgot to post this earlier...

I will bring a fire grill, and Marty is bringing wood, so we can have a fire and cook hot dogs or whatever, and if you want to bring a pot to heat water we could do that too... Kind of like what we did for lunch on the conservation run!

Since there are others that are better at doing the write-up, I'll let them do that. I'll just post some pictures that hopefully give you a taste. The rest of my pictures are on my website.
