looking to get some more grip...

Hey all- the Cooper Discoverer ATs i've got on the jeep right now are finally ready to be changed out. I'm looking to get a tire that will give better traction in mud, but here's the kicker, I want to keep the tire size 235/70/16 or very close to that (225/75/16 maybe? or a 235/75/16?) Any suggestions make/model?

BF Goodrich all the way but thats my opinion

BF Goodrich M/T tires are available in 235/70 R 16. Firestone Destination M/Ts are available in 225/75 R 16. Those are both good mud tires apparently. Check out one of the Tire store websites such as: http://www.1010tires.com/tires.asp and browse. Someone else might have more info for ya.

I would also vote for the BFG MTs. They grip really well on road and they are excellent off road. The road noise is comparable to an AT tire.

BFG M-Ts are really good in mud, water and sand from what I experienced a couple weeks ago whilst off-road...however with this light misting we've been having the last few days in Memphis, the ever so slick/oily streets can cause the rear to come around while turning and accelerating. However i have conquered that from happeneing by turning the ESP Program on since I normally drive without it on.

Did you check out the Cooper ATR's?
I havent had a problem with them and you are obviously already familiar with Coppers performance.

BFG's are nice, but expensive I thought. Coopers are comparible and cheap.

i run 31" kumho's on my XJ, my wife has the 33's, and after watching us wheel a couple times, my buddie got a set of 32's for his jeep. so far they rock. i was a little worried because they were so cheap, but so far i've been wheeling them at 10psi, and am very impressed how well the sidewall flexes/compresses, and how much traction they have in almost any terrain.

The Cooper Discoverer S/T comes in 235/70/16. I will probably be placing some 245/75/16 S/T's on my KJ once I'm lifted. I have never used them, but some on this board have and spoke highly of them when I asked. Good off-road and not too loud on-road. To me they look aggressive for an AT tire, but not a full mud tire. Here's a pic.

Cooper also has a tire called STT if they still make it it is aggressive .I went with the ATR and haven't had any problems so far
