Hey Guys, Not sure that I really want to start a new section for the Patriot but... Just got back from 3 days of driving the tires off of 3 of them in Central AZ. I will have some more info around mid Dec and hope to have some pictures. I can not post any yet. Worked very good for it's purpose and I had a blast running the desert very hard in this new pre-release rig. Sorry I can't add pictures right now but man I would be in deep dookie if I do. More info to come. Later...Clint

I'm anxious to hear what you think. Its not an oversized Compass is it? I know the same platform, but please tell me Jeep hasnt lost its way completely. So far, I havent been impressed by hearing about the IRS and the 2.4L World Engine. So far, when the KJ needs replaced (long way away), it will be either a JK or a KK for me.

Yeah, any feedback would be great. How is the power from the 2.4L? I have been waiting to replace my parents Neon with something Jeep :D Luckily my mother thinks the Compass is ugly as sin!

Actually from the press photos I've seen it looks more like what the KK will look like, a.k.a. a mini-commander.

So Clint, were those trails you talked about good enough for the DC guys?

I kinda like the compass.. Im not saying I would drive one though..

Ive heard the compass is very slow.. I couldnt imagine how slow the patriot will be. I just do not understand why they use such small crappy engines? Why not put the 4.7 in everything? It gets the same mpg.. Make the engine bay alittle bigger and call it a day.. :?

The trails were great for them... We really ran these things hard and it was a lot of fun pushing these things to the limit. More info to follow. Later...Clint

I'm guessing the ones you drove had the off-road package. I.E. 1" "lift". skids? Also I think better tires come with the package?

Since they have already published photos in their Jeep magazine and they are at some dealers I can't see why you couldn't post unless this is not a typical Patriot.

The 4.7L is more of a gas guzzler than you make it out to be.

The Compass and Patriot don't need more than the 2.4L.

And how in the world can you squeeze the 4.7L in a FWD small vehicle platform anyway?

Probably can't talk about the expidition since that would release pre-production data on a car that has not been officially released to the public. I think the patriot will sell better than the Compass, but that is just personal opinion. It's good to hear that DCX didn't just have their engineers and program managers on the trip...

OT / Speaking of releasing preproduction information the guys at Toyota are redesigning the interior of the Tundra after GM released their latest series of trucks with upscale interiors in both SUV and full size truck form.
