The 0-6- and 50-7- numbers must be off. The total gain in the 1/4 mile is 1.90 seconds. If you gained 2.5 0-60 and 1.5 50-70, the gain would have to be at least 4 seconds minimum.

No Darby it doesnt work like that. Performance all around the world for cars is generally measured in 0-60mph or 0-100 kph. Cars' gain the most in they're 0-60 / 0-100kph times as you have a different set of physics/rules acting against the car beyond that.
From 100kph onwards, a whole other bunch of factors come into play like vehicle mass VS the engines' ability to push it, wind resistance ect. REALLY powerful cars gain over the whole spectrum, hence why we have the
1/4 mile. A cars' true colours shine through on the 1/4.

I totally believe those figures.

Look at the 3.7lt KJ on Nos. We have a few over here in OZ that tried it. It ran a 17.5 sec pass stock, then a 14.1 with a (I think) 75Hp shot kit.

Blew everyone away........ 8)

As HP and torque are increased with mods, where will the weak link be in the drivetrain. The Tranny should be about bulletproof up to at least the specs of the HEMI....if it is indeed the same tranny.....330 hp and 395 ft/lbs. But will the driveshafts and diff withstand the added power. For that matter, how about the engine internals? Does anyone know if VM uses this same block design for any larger engines.

The problem is you are not going to gain 2.5 seconds 0-60 in the KJ and lose it in the rest of the 1/4 mile...against another stock KJ , aerodynamics, ect are a wash since we are talking about equal weight vehicles ( we are comparing apples to apples here...same vehcle ). Then if you add in the factor that you gain 1.5 from 50-70...you are saying that you would lose over 3 seconds in the last part of the 1/4 mile...Again, the figures they gave sounded more like seat of the pants than actual timing.

The 1/4 mile times are accuarate but the 0-60 and 50-70 are very suspect.

In an effort to reduce some running temp and underbonnet temp, I have just wrapped up my turbo and down pipe (to the flexjoin) in proper (expensive doo doo! lol!) fiberglass extractor wrap. I've used 4 stainless clamps to bind it all up in sections, and am very confident of the projected outcome. Have bothered to drive it yet but will on the w'end. We'll see how she goes.

Over here in Europe, some car makers are offering tuning chips via their dealer network, you get a 20% power hike and keep your full warranty.
VW does this for petrol and diesel powered turbo engines and some company's from Japan do the same for their pick-up trucks.
This would be the only way forward for me as I would like to keep my engine reliable and long running.

Hey guys, just a report on the tranny. I drive a hemi ram, modded out so it's putting down 320rwhp and 335rwlbs, or about 415-430 at the crank and the tranny is holding up find 60000miles in. It does have the shift kit to firm up the shifts some.

On the Dodge truck forums, the tranny is good to about 350-390rwhp or almost 500 at the crank. The tranny does fail when they start running 150 shots of nitrous through them, or 600hp + superchargers/turbos. In the case of the NoS, the tranny can't handle the sudden surge of 150hp through it, but if it's 150hp from the getgo it's not so bad on the tranny. The overdrive gears are usually the ones that fail, 4th and 5th, and occationally 3rd will bite it too. Keep in mind that the hemi with the rev limiter increased via a programmer is topping out at 6100rpms, way more then a CRD will ever see.

I would say the tranny itself is fine unless your doing more then the standard bolt ons/programmer for the CRD, if your doing a bigger turbo, injectors and other fun stuff then I'd look at beefing up the tranny. The Torque converter in these sucks rocks, my edge street converter in my hemi 2600 stall was a world different over the stock one, making it much more of a blast to drive. Stock converter in the hemi is 2300rpm, anyone know what it is in the crd, hopefully not the same one. Suncoast has a beefed up set of clutch packs made for the 545 now too if you want to beef up that. There is a 392 hemi (6.4L) supercharged to 800hp in a ram with the 545 behind it. He's had a lot of trouble, mostly with the converter blowing up, but he did get the suncoast clutch pack and it's holding up together fine so far.
