Okay, a while back we were discussing high angle half shafts as a solution to going bigger. Someone posted a picture of a (Toyota maybe?) truck where the owner had done some extensive work to maintain his IFS (custom a-arms, high angle cvs, etc). It looked like he got about 7-10 inches of lift out of it WITHOUT DROPPING THE CRADLE. Does anybody know where that picture is? Can't seem to find it now and I'm thinking maybe it was on the old board.

Thanks in advance!

Here's one I found. The lift is only one portion of the cure for a KJ.We're all familiar with the exploding diff syndrome (some more than others) and until addressed the rest is just a bandaid on a sucking chest wound,i.e., only halfway there.

Quote:
The Total Chaos coil-over Caddy Kit is just as expensive and almost as time-consuming to install as a properly done straight-axle conversion, but this is not a second-rate upgrade. Our completed 4Runner only sits 3 inches higher and 6.5 inches wider than stock, cycles 12 inches of vertical wheel-travel and clears 33-inch tires.

I do not believe the front diff is a big problem.. I know if a company really got into the libby, they could take a dana44 from something(WK?) and make it easily work in the libby. The big problem is getting a company to make a good lift for the kj and do it right.. The only problem, after you do everything correctly, the price is so high you could do a SFA.. :(

Totally aware of the diff problems...I'm just looking for the picture that someone posted in an old thread (that I can't seem to find anymore).

I'll probably get whacked for this but here goes..............If your goal is to wheel extreme there are many choices better than the KJ.Even in the Jeep lineup. If a unique vehicle is your desire the KJ is a wonderful start providing the wallet is in sync.I've played with lift heights up to 4 inches.Boy you shoulda heard the sounds coming from under my Jeep at that lift!I am one of the early victims of the diff explosion so I wince with every groan or bang from the front of my Jeep.SAF is the way to go it's just a pain 'cause it's pure fab from the start.I've had plans on paper since '03 but cannot seem to find the time to do it.It'll happen eventually but 'til then I just wonder when.
BTW I recent installed a Frankenlift and cannot wait to wheel it.Sweet ride and lotsa droop and travel.Nice work on AllJ's part.Bit of a witch to install the front portion in my driveway but oh well. Now I can't get any tires 'cause of the darn Goodyear strike!!!!!

I'm not really asking for any feedback about lifting KJs (I'm all too aware of the challenges we face)...there is a general IFS question I'm trying to answer on another board and the picture I saw here would be most helpful. Thanks.

OK that's nice. However look at the picture posted from TotalChaos above. The rack & pinion on the KJ is a stumbling block to what you wish to do.You'll need to convert the steering to make that much lift happen.Good luck and post some pics if you do it.

Maybe you are thinking of Rustys Offroad...he announced that he will have some High Angle CVJoint Axles out soon. You could always call or email him...Nice Guy.

Those are close and should help. The one I'm thinking of was all custom though - the guy must have spent a fortune. Thanks for the help!
