It's time to start thinking about my next Jeep. I want more that my current KJ is able to be. 33" tires or better. Front and rear lockers. And I still want reasonable highway manners. I don't want much.

So what do you think? Go with a JK? Wait for the KK? I'll enjoy your advice and discussion. :D

JK Rubicon. Just add 33's and you are ready to go. Already has electric lockers, 4.10's and 4:1 transfer case, removable doors and top and all covered under factory warranty. What more could you ask for?

The jk already has 32" tires.. If you get the 4door, it may not be as good as the kj is lifted.. Those things are so long it would be a BIG change over driving the kj offroad. I would say the 2door jk would be sweet offroad since its so short and the gearing it has and all.

Ice cream parlor in the back....kegerator next to it. Perhaps a free sexy woman that comes with it.......am I asking too much? Okay, I'll sacrifice the woman, but the other two items are a must.

Thanks for the thoughts, guys. If I go with a rubi, it will be the two door. Here in Pennsylvania there is too much squiggling through the trees for the longer wheel base. I’m planning on keeping the KJ. We just need another vehicle.

The 4 door JK is only 116 wheel base guys.......its really not that long....its shorter than a Dodge Dakota or Toyota Tacoma.....and we have a couple of those in my expeditionary group and they get through the tight squiggly trails just fine, plus the clearance is greater than those two trucks to.....measured by hand on a side by side comparison of a Tacoma and a Sahara edition 4 door JK.....Rubicon has nearly half an inch higher than Sahara due to the MT tires.

My .02 is that if you love the Libertys and what they're about I'd go with 4 door JK....its like a Liberty but boxier and more robust, and really not that much longer...only a couple of inches.

Get the Rubicon version....and you get front and rear Dana 44's, front and rear lockers, active sway bar (automatic disconnecting), and 32" BF Goodrich MT's.....PLUS all the conveniences of the Liberty with plenty of room for gear, kids, groceries, pets, and soccer equipment ;)

You'll lose alot of that space in the "short box" Wrangler.

Anyway......one wheelers opinion on a site dedicated to Jeeps like the Liberty.

From someone who's been around them while being tested on the Rubicon Trail, the wheelbase isn't as much of a hindrance as you would think. They perform amazingly well. The 2 door is as much of a beast as the TJ Rubicon is and more, and the 4-door follows right behind it without many hiccups.

Thanks again guys! I'm just not sure about the long turning radius on the 4 door. Guess I need to drive one to see. We thought about the 2 door because it is just for the wife and I. The daughter graduates this spring from college and is off to who knows where. So it's just the two of us. Besides, we keeping the KJ as daily driver. The next Jeep will be our adventure Jeep for trips out west, down south, up north, etc. to explore every off road locale we can.

If its just the wife and you then go with the 2 door. But what happens if the daughter comes home and wants to go somewhere with you all? Then your screwed. Would be cool if they could fit two bucket seats in the rear to where you could take one out for luggage and such.. :)

Good question, Jeepjeepster. She and her (probably before too long) fiancée can take the Libby.

But I still wonder how capable the new KK will be. It's a shame a certain person around here doesn't pretend to be someone else and tell us how good the KK was on the trails and if it has a STEEL front dif.

if you wait until the new wranglers flood the market ( 6 months or so ) you could probably pick up an 04 - 05 wrangler rubicon unlimited on the cheap ( maybe 16 or 17k ).

thats what my plan is. gonna try and sell my 98 f 150 4x4 and get one of those.
