Well, I'll have to pass on the difficult/challenging trails. I still don't have my rock rails back from the powdercoater. I've done quite a bit of stuff around the Mt. Baldy area so if you know of some other stuff around Monument I would't mind trying that out.

well, if you want to stay easy, we could explore 57 Mt Herman rd (pg209), or 60 Rampart Range Rd (pg 219) Starts at Garden of the gods.

or some others if you have other areas you want to look at.

Or we could all meet here for a Mod Party if anyone has work to do on their Jeep? Maybe a BBQ too? I know the front of my Frank lift should be here Friday if Daystar has cooperated with Quinn. I guess the Frank lift is too popular and more demand for parts than Daystar expected!

It's that 1.5" puck. They make plenty of the 2.5" one and probably never expected the demand for the shorter version...

I'll take a look at the books. The north end of Rampart Range Road is about 10 minutes from my house!

Quivvy, where is the trail head? I checked 4x4trails.net but it had no listing for Left Hand Canyon. Do you know of any sites that have pictures and a review that I could check out?

Thanks!

-Glenn

So where do we all want to meet?

Also Quivvy, I saw that there is a wildfire going at Left hand Canyon. It was on Channel 11.

If that is closed you could bring the Co 4x4 guys down and run rampart with us.

theres a fire in lefthand!? bummer dude... if its closed i'll give you all a call and meet up with you guys. for some reason 4x4trails.net wont load. it should be listed under there i was lookin at it yesterday? its in boulder county, co. i BELIEVE the directions (atleast from downtown boulder) is 36 north to lefthand and hang a left. its a few miles up the road and the entrance is the forest preserve sign. i can give you my cell # if your interested.

It'd be a haul for you. Somewhere around Garden of the Gods in Co. Springs. Specifics are not nailed down yet.

well, I do not know much in the area either. Do we want to meet somewhere for breakfast/coffee (Dennys on the South Academy exit) then head out?

If that will work, then I will give further instructions.

Then there is the time, do we have any time frame we need to be home by/leave by? Anyone?

I am planning on taking Sat off on studying(out of cycle promotion testing on the 7th), so I am free all day.

Quivvy, you and your buddies are more than welcome if you want to come. It is going to be an easy trail, mostly scenic, unless we fing an offshoot or something.

Let me know,
Ted

Fine by me. Does 9:00am work? We'll eat a quick breakfast and then head out.

And there are quite a few offshoots (at least further north).

Well then, how about this, meet at 9 Sat Morn at the denny's off of Academy BLVD.

Take S AF Academy exit off of 25(from southbound off of 25, it will be the first academyblvd exit). Turn Left to go over the highway. turn left at first light after you cross the highway, then take left at first light on that road, and go all the way down, it is right there.

lefthand canyon is right off of lefthand drive (turn off highway 36) just north of boulder. if a very wheeled area. the trail splits near the beginning. the right side is aptly name carnage canyon. ran it all the time in the wrangler last coulple of years. most guys use it to test out new mods, etc. there were obstacles i had we neverquite made it over even on 33s. if you have the time it is a fun trail to walk on a sat or sun morning because it is fairly short and you can watch peeps destroy their junk

the left side is lefthand (turn sharp left uphill just before the shooting area). it is pretty much just a little more than a dirt road used by guys coming down after running carnage. it doesnt go anywhere and the playground (again used to test mods, etc) at the top is all closed off now so there really isnt much to the trail.

if you are up that way and want a little a challenge, look into gillespie gulch.

4x4trails.net has good writeups on most of the front range trails. they are sometimes a little out of date, but are still pretty accurate

as for this weekend, i am unfortunately out again. one of these days i will actually get to wheen this thing

Well, it looks like we may have 2 trips going on Sat (if Lefthand is open {fire})

If you are going to come down south and run Rampart, please sign in or PM me and I will give you my cell so we do not leave anybody behind. Again we are meeting att he Denny's on Academy BLVD (take the second AF Academy exit on 25 S. and turn Left then left at first light after the overpass) at 9:00 quick coffee/Breakfast if you like, then leave for Garden of the Gods/Rampart.

More the merrier, so bring freinds if ya want, just let me know so we do not leave w/o you.

Ted

BTW this is going to be an easy run, Skyjump says there are a few offshoots at the north end for those of us with our armor on the Jeep.

You would have been fine, honestly. It was a beautiful drive, but nothing more than a dirt road in most places. Although USAFCOP got a little crazy on some of the offshoots and then this...http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1607
