Does anyone have the OME lift on their KJ? I have a '04 and I'm wondeing if it will be noticably taller with the OME lift. I thought about getting the Rusty's lift, but I don't want to mess with the trouble of the rear shocks. I also like dealing with All-J's, that,s where I'll be getting the OME lift from. It will be OME springs with Rancho shocks/struts. Can ya'll help me with my final decision?

I'd really reevalute your stance on the " don't want to mess with the trouble of the rear shocks." (Unless you are worried about the cash)

I got the Frankenlift when I could afford it, and the ride was MUCH MUCH better than stock- the ride in the back was much different with the new springs/shocks. The rear assembly is extremely simple to put it. Both sides took me less than 30 minutes and caused no problems- very simple. I had a tough time getting the front assemblies in, that takes some time.

You probably would be able to see the difference front to back if you just put the OME suspension up front. If you want to see what it looks like, just jack the front up an inch.

You can see what OME front springs did for our 04 Sport at http://www.a-buyers-realty.com/personal ... berty1.htm

Since I did that write up I added a second spring isolator to the rear which raised the rear about 1/2" at the flare which was enough to level the whole thing up.

I have the OME lift on my KJ. First I would stay away from their rear shocks as they are only 1/2 inch longer than stock. Get some Rancho RSX 17004. Second their rear springs (lightest ones) advertise 1.5-1.75" but they gave me more like 2.5" or even a bit more.

Their front medium springs on the other hand give me just about 1.5" and then a little less once you add armor. The number that Bill posts 29 1/4 from bottom of rim to bottom of flares is just a little less then I have now (29.5") with some spacers and clevis lift. Not sure if Bills numbers are any different now after it has given some time to settle.

I never took before measurements but I've compared it to my Parents stock sport KJ (no armor or anything) and I have a net of 2.5" about. So probably closer to 3" then if you removed all my extra weight. Since my spacer and clevis lift gave about 1.5" of lift then I guess the OME medium dutys gave me 1" once I add extra weight.

I really like the OME rear springs though. They ride nice, plus they are progressive rate and give you some good lift. If I was going to do it all over again, I would probably go with the Franken Lift w/ possible OME rear springs and an extra rear spring isolator if neccessary. Rancho RSX shocks and struts also.

I ordered the OME lift yesterday! It is the heavy duty springs(front and rear), with Rancho shocks and struts. When I do the install, I'll take pictures and post them if anyone is interested.

New guy here. I would be very interested to see your install pics Edwin. I am now considering either the Frankenlift or OME (with rear Ranchos as recommended by Eddo). Are you getting the struts pre-assembled? I wonder if you can just bolt-in the pre-assembled struts w/o using a strut compressor? Please post your before and after lift measurements. The key measurement being under the crossmember right behind the front diff.
Good luck with your install and Thanks!

If you get the pre-assembled struted assembly it can bolt right in. No need for a spring compressor. When you take measurements, make sure you drive atleast a handful of times around the block and hit a couple bumps before you take post lift measurements.

The front will sit considerably higher until you drive it a bit. Even now if you unload the front supension completely it takes a few good bumps to get her back down.

I ordered the preassembled struts because I wanted Quinn to do it and I did not want any down time. My boss has a brand new lift at work that no one uses. He bought a car shop, ad we are an A/C business. I think the lift will make it easy to do the install, even for my superskid! :D

Howzit goin' Edwin... did your OME lift come in yet? It's been almost three weeks since you ordered it from All-J's. How long did they say it would take to preassemble the struts and deliver the kit to you? I'm gettin itchy to order my lift. I still haven't decided between the Frankenlift or the OME (w/rear Ranchos). Hope you're out enjoying your new altitude.

I have not received it yet. All J had to special order the rear H.D. OME springs, as they were'nt in stock. I did receive an e-mail today stating that they had been shipped and I should be getting it on Thurs. Sept. 1st. I plan on putting it on Labor Day weekend. KJTX is coming down to help me. I'm going to take lots of before and after pics, and I'll post them.

Yes, I will be hauling heavy loads. I plan on getting a roof rack. When I go hunting, I will put my game on top, as I'll be pulling my camper too. Yes I plan on getting a winch. Plus, everything's bigger in Texas.

did you changed struts/shocks for bigger ones?

Are the isolators in the back the ones from the dealer?

Thanks for your write up.

I currently have the OME shocks mated to the medium duty coils, but did not notice any improvement in wheel travel (heavily disappointed). I am however really happy with the ride.
1. How much longer are the Rancho RSX 17004 than the OME shocks at the rear - will it improve wheel travel dramatically?
2. Will the comfort level deteriorate if I then do decide to change them for Rancho?

The OME rear shocks are only about .3" longer than stock. The Rancho RSX are about 2.5" longer than stock if i remember correctly. I changed out to Rancho RSX 17004 and was maybe a tad bit more firm but that was comparing new shocks to already broken in shocks.

Will the OME coils drop all the way to the shocks' full extention - ie. an extra 2 inches of wheel travel!?
