So from the google calculations 120.65 = 4.75 backspacing... I'm looking at some 16x8's with 4.75 bs. I know most of you are running 5" backspacing, but will the .25 make that big of a difference if it's just for street use?

The 18's come in an 18 x 8.5 with 5.5 bs, that would be real close to your 16's with the .5 gain in rim width and .5 loss in bs. I also found some tires to make the overall size of the 18's a 30.5" which is almost the same as ya'll 245/75r16 circumfrance of 30.6".

What am I missing??? I think I got this wheel stuff down finally lol...feel like I'm back in math class again.

Your number sound right and with a lift that wheel/tire combo should work.
from the looks of the rim and its size I would guess that you have 0 plans to wheel your rig correct?
The reason I ask is that I recently got out on a trail with a guy who had some 18" teflon things on his rig and spent more time worring about scraching his rims then I spent trying to find a harder line
It almost made my trip bad cause he would hold up the group so he could move/stack rocks to avoid scraches

I scratched my cragars on this past run..

It could of been avioded but I didnt think the rock would hit the rim. I think I can touch it up.. Its not to bad.. Thats why i only paid $50 a rim I guess. :wink:

No wheelin' for me. I use this as my normal ride. I ride mountain bikes(XC, DH, DJ) for my offroad fun. If I ever end up back out west where I left my heart, I might be exploring mountain fireroads to get to good camp spots, hunting locations, or to shuttle a good DH run for my biking bro's but other than that and the ski hill trips that's about all the offroading it will see.

Not that I don't think Jeepin' is bad@ss, I just have other hobbies for getting down and dirty. Plus when I dump a $3k bike from a 25mph get off or casing a double, normally it's just a $200 fix if that vs. the damage that can come from rolling a jeep or whatever.

Mad props to you jeepers, but for offroad use it's 2 wheels for me :wink:

What about going up to a 31.3" size?

Anyone heard anything about the Nitto Dune Grappler tires?
If I'm not jeeping it, just strictly roads, 285/60R18, overall size is 31.30 compared to everyone's popular 245/75r16 @ 30.6". Do you think I'd have issues?

With the 18s and 5.5 BS and the diameter/width of the tire you may have some decent rubbing on the iside on turns. That's why we decrease the BS.

I've got the choice of either 16x8's

or the 17x8's, what part number would you guys suggest for both size's?

Also, I'm trying to figure out a nice riding A/T tire. I was looking at the Nitto's but their tire size's don't match up right with the known circumfrance that most of you run. Do you guys think a Firestone Destination A/T tire would be a good choice for a nice looking tire with all season capability but not sacraficing any aggressiveness if needed? I'm not crawling rocks as stated.

Bridgestone REVOs have a great reputation... and I'll tell you from personal experience, the Toyo Open Country A/T rides great and looks great. Also comes in A LOT of sizes...

That is a nice looking tire, how many miles do you have on your's and how's it ride? I've had experience with pro comp X-terrain's(garbage tire for road use IMO) and the infamous BFG AT's. I love the BFG's, used them on two vehicles now, but everything else is unknown to me... I've heard good and bad about the Revo's.

30,000 on my revos, great anywhere, very little breaking loose in heavy rain, some noise as they wear down, gotta rotate em frequently. i'd buy em again for sure....and they look sweet!

If you are not going off-road, the tire dealers I talked to recommended Destination LE's over the AT's. Not as agressive, quieter and supposed to last 10K longer for the same money. Just a thought.
