I know there is tons of extra flex in the rear axel that is restricted by the shocks but I can't seem to find any good info on the subject, I did find some info on the rancho RSX17080 and that it has 8.25" of travel, but how much does the stock shock have. I just have know idea where to get this information because the guy behind the parts counter shure as heck doesent know anything so any recomendations or insights on this subject would be great.

I just got done playing around with my jeep taking some measurements, the compressed length of the stock shock is aprox 13.5" (measured from the center of the bolt) and extended is aprox 22" for a range of 8.5"

there is about 1-1.5" unused uptravel left in the shock
Image

and aprox 3.5" more down travel possible with the shock disconnected, also notice that I had to disconnect the brake line, it would need to be dropped almost 3"

a shot of the axel fully flexed without springs or shocks connected

the Rancho rsx 17004 should give you plenty more flex I have them & flexed so much you could've pulled my spring out & handed them to me

Yes the RSX 17004. They are specified for the back of a dodge durago.

The specs for the shocks are listed on ranchos site.

i just replaced the rusty's crap shocks with the rancho's.
thats the best upgrade i have done to the jeep besides the lift and tires.

i think everyone should get the ranchos on the rear, they flex really well, are not noisy, like rusty's shocks, and have fantastic road manners.

just my 2 ...

I agree with them being way better than the rustys as far as on/offroad ride quality but....... I had no rattle with the rustys shocks since i added washers right off the bat, well I blew one and threw the ranchos on, now guess what I have a rattle in the passenger rear from the new rancho shock!!!!! :?

I replaced the (junk) stockers with monroe reflex units. the on-road ride is drastically improved. I would recomend them for a smooth ride, it make the truck ride like a nice car would.

I plan to install front ones too later on.
