I have an 03 that is frankenlifted, and on 245/75/16 MT/R's and the absolute best i can get for milage is 12.5 mpg combined city and highway. Is there anything i can do to improve that without having to regear. I just installed a fram boost intake kit, looking to gain some of my mileage back, but i haven't had it long enough to see if i made a difference.

Yeah, but the sad thing is, CRD's don't get anywhere near the 27+ mpg DCX claimed they would get. My 14,000lb motor home gets better gas mileage on the hwy then my KJ does in the city. With the KJ only getting 230 miles or so to a tank on a good day in the city doesn't require a math degree to know it sucks.

Mine did -11,000 mile average of 23mpg -about 20 intown 26-27 on the highway- until I put the lift and MTR's on it - then it dropped to 18-19 intown and 23-24 on the highway. For 4500 lbs of SUV that's not bad.

After 4 years of mostly City Driving I get 15.7 MPG average. It's been up to 16.1 with a few trips on the highway thrown in, but I can see how a magazine could get those low numbers. The Liberty is a great rig, but it's no MPG champion by any means.

Whenever I take my CRD on an Interstate road-trip I get well over 27MPG average. Going through the mountains will take the avg down to 27MPG though. Nice flat stuff, or rolling hills, we easily get 30 (cruise controlled around 70-75). When I take the speed-trap 55MPH road out into the country, and keep my cruise set at 58, I get 32-33MPG. I kill that as soon as I drive around town though. :-) Town MPGs are 19-22, depending on how heavy I get on the turbo.

I dont know what is going on with ya'lls KJ's but somthing is wrong maby a bunch of heavy feet around here?
we have an '03 no lift and tires that are 29.5" tall ,same as a 30" tire's OD
we get 15-17mpg cty and always better than 20 on the highway
if you are getting less than 15 city then I would look real hard at what is wrong my TJ does about 15 and it has an auto trans and and a 4.0 with
30's and 3.73 ,the 3 speed is a dog in the city
and I will get 16-18mpg+ on the highway with a soft top and cranking out 2800+rpm @65mph if I put the hard top on I can almost get 20

when we wheel both rigs they get close to the same milage but I still need to stop for gas but the KJ could probably make it home it would be close but I think it would make it

My KJ (5-spd) had the OME lift, a Wilderness Roof Rack (with lights, Hi-Lift, Maxx, and shovel), 75 lbs of recovery gear, and 245-75/16 AT Revos. It also had the K&N FIPK and the Magnaflow cat-back. It was good for 16-17 mpg in town, and up to 21 highway if I kept it under 70.

My '06 Unlimited Rubicon (6-spd), however, only gets 12-14 in town, 15-17 on the road so far....

if your rubi is stock then I could see why
the six speed has a way low first ,I was told, and 4.10 with the gas thirsty I-6 although I can not see the poor highway mpg

i usually calculate mileage every fill up. i average 15.5 mpg. on a hwy trip to pulaski, ny, i got 20 and change.

i recently put on bfg a/t 235/70/16, and intake on my kj. now i get about 12-13 mpg. [but i am going to try acetone, once the next tank of gas finishes of the bottle of fuel injector/carb cleaner i just put in.] see what happens

Take it back and make them fix their shiz or buy it back. Mine gets right at 27 highway-22 city and I get 500 on a tank. Is your EGR flow control valve going out (lots of smoke)?
