Since I live in the more hilly part of the springs, i ws wondering how people are using their overdrive switch. Do you drive without overdive in the city? Do you turn if off and on depending on the nature of the road. Do you even turn it off?
I tried to do some test, turning it off for stop and go, hills, and turn it on just for curusing, even if it is 45 on the flat side of academy or 50 (yeah right 50) on the flat side of powers. But since both me and my wife drives it, some times we both forget and so don't know for sure if there are any real benifits.
At one point in time, I was driving all the time and it seemed that i got better gas milage (two or four miles or so) changing it for the type of road and traffic. but now, I don't see that any more. I have done the following changes;
Using mobil 1 every 3-4k and oil filter of course. I use the Mobil 1 that is stated for SUV and trucks. I have the bosh platinum+2 (change the old ones at 26k and I am at 28k now). Rotate tires, Changed the xfr case and diff fluids at 26k as well.
Going to get the trans fluid changed at 30k. Might even have the radiator power flused as well. I got it used, and it was a rent a car for 15k of its life. so, I figured I change everything just to be at a base line for my self. but it is just taking time as I had to learn all this stuff as what to do for a 4x4.
