Mag light is now safe and secure

They just don't understand the joy of having a flashlight available at any time, but the first time you have to help them look for something at night in the middle of nowhere they'll change their minds

Well.....I could have used one yesterday night......of course I take it out and leave it in my locker at work....a 3 D Cell Mag.....cuz its part our uniform requirement of gear....but me and a friend hit a local trail last night.....around 7pm for a night run....an excuse to use our overhead lights really.....and get a little expedition training in....which turned into a version of the Camel Trophy quite honestly.

It got kinda muddy......now I'm sure alot of have heard of this STUPID mystery of the RETARDED electric fans in these KJs of ours getting seized by a little grit and dirt and an overheating issue as a result?

Well.....it happened to me last night.....in middle of quite literally nowhere in the pitch black in a deep deep deep rut that I slid into because it was wet and I did not air down my MTR's (Cause hey its a local trail 5 minutes from home why bother...never needed to before)

And because it was local I didn't bring my tool box or anything.....so thank fully my friend Big D (also on here) had his equipment....and we could hear the fan trying to move but it wasn't........so....in the pitch black cold night lightly raining.....we took apart the whole fan on the trail...with the Renegade perched on a 30 degree angle half in a rut.....and of course we had no light.....mag light at work...in locker.

Luckily my friend managed to find his compressor light that we plugged in the power outlet.....and we took apart the fan structure....killed it with WD-40....and the magic ingredient.....AT Fluid......oh my what a great thing for this ridiculous problem.

An hour or so later....after a NOS Sportdrink....and mud up to our ankles in the dark in the middle of a huge vast forest trail...we conquered and moved on.

Now....for your friends that don't understand why you need a light.....this is a shining example.

And for those in another post that are questioning DC and wanting to make a loud statement to them about Jeep quality....THIS is a GLARING thing that needs to be addressed.....my Group...the KJ Expeditionary Group will be voicing this concern to.

Once to often have I seen and heard of these ridiculous electric fans seizing up for virtually a spec of sand or dirt in them....so stupid....and to grossly overheat as result....c'mon "Trail Rated" my right ***. If you're going to create a vehicle like the Renegade....skid plates, rock rails....Hella aux. lighting on the bumper and roof...tail light guards etc etc.....then for gods sakes put in a fan that can handle a light bit of muck.....'

Yes I know there is a Trailer towing package fan "available" that is belt driven and would erase this problem....but why not just make ALL KJs like that....at least the ones that you advertise as Trail Rated for things like fjording water and the like.

I dont think it has to do with the availablity of the flashlight but rather mag lights and their components tend to be more of a novelty item rather than something you can rely on
I have wasted money on 3 and will never buy another every one had the same issues every time I needed them they worked like cr@*
afetr the third I bought a Brinkman Maxstar ,>$15 at a hardwear store and that included the square 6v batt. it lasted 2 year on the same batt. and I was using it when I was camping noticed it looked real dim bought a new battery about a year ago and it works like a champ today

I have one for each jeep and one in my work truck they will work every time and they float and mud does not mess with the junky end cause it is snaped on and can not move
the bulbs never go out ever who knows why but they dont and they are not LED

zeero, I also believe its stupid to have an electric fan.. The libbys that have a towing pack come with an engine driven fan which I believe all libbys should have..

Neither.... They have their own battery pack. Come with 2 chargers AC/DC. These are the same light that all Law enforcement people use in their cars.

Yep i have a streamlight on my duty belt.....excellent for peering through tinted glass, however the situation remained.....it was in my locker at work...along with the Mag.....grumble :shock:

The charger is the bracket. I have one in my jeep in the Dodge truck, Kawasaki Mule, home, barn, and here at the shop. Been using them since 1981.

What is the clamp actually called?

Man, don't kid yourself with a Streamlight... the best flashlights are made by SureFire. I used to think MagLite's were great, until I bought a SureFire... I will never own anything else but a SureFire again.

Ive always liked flash lights.. But I could never buy a surefire.. I buy alot of stuff that cost to much but I could never see paying that much for just a flash light? Blows my mind they can sell something for that much? I do not understand how there is a market for that?

You'll just have to see one in person...

My smallest SureFire, the G2Z, puts out more light than my big 1,000,000 candlepower spotlight... and the SureFire is only 4 inches long! I'm not exaggerating that, either... they are the real deal.
