I only have about 5500 miles on it and it has been purple since I purchased it brand new with only 11 miles on it.....so it hasn't changed colors....it has always been purple.

Just checked mine and noticed it was a hair below the min cold line as well. I know it was fine when I checked it last, nothing dripping, wonder where it's going? I think almost every Chrysler I've ever owned has taken automatic transmission fluid for the power steering pump. Guess some things never change...

Last time I was under the hood, I noticed that the PS container was considerably below the minimum. Took it to the dealer.
They couldn't find a leak. Even checked the boots over the struts. Where'd it go? Why'd it go?

Ours was low, also. I figured there was a leak, but didn't find so much as a seep.

Bought a quart of the ATF+4 or whatever it is, topped it up, and all has been fine since.

Same here---level fine upon delivery then a little low a month or so later; didn't find any leak.

Probably just took a while for all the air to work its way out of the system.

I have had to add to my pump twice in the year I have had it. It slowly uses the fluid. I drive city/highway combo with the monthly trail adventure. As for the color-- the color of the fluid means nothing. ATF4 includes a dye agent to identify it when new (for the dealer techs who are too stupid to read ATF+4 on the bottle). The dye may eventually change colors. This in no way indicates that the fluid is bad. Unfortunately, this means there is no visual way to indicate the quality of the fluid. Changing it regularly is the best bet. (All that per the Liberty Service manual... yatta yatta... your mileage may vary).
