It's interesting, isn't it, when you mention to a dealership that you are a member of a Liberty owners' group with over 3,000 members. I had a long series of talks with the service department and finally a long chat with the manager of my local dealer, about service I have had since I bought my Liberty there in 03. They were HIGHLY interested in knowing about the club, especially since one of our members recently taught them how to fix a transmission problem (cheers, Eddo). The manager spent quite a while asking about the club's impressions and concerns about the Liberty. I mentioned some of them like the lower ball joints, the radiators, the power steering hoses, and one or two others. Now, the manager/owner made me promise that whenever I need service done, I am to call him personally, and he will send a mechanic up to pick up the Jeep, and drop off a car while they service it. The thing is, Jason is right about something: honey is better than salt. When I was talking to these people, I remained calm and did not get abusive (even though I was steamed). I actually told the manager how much effort it was taking to stay calm. Anyhow, we'll see if the service improves...

These very statements are the reason I am asking for your help. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have for us to better serve your needs the next time you are in. You may simply reply to this email, or click here to send me your reply.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Talk about askin' for it! What do they really expect you to say?

They guy should have sent you a personalized email or given you a call to apologize for the major screw up. Acknowledge the fact that he probably just lost a customer and left it at that.

WOW! What a nightmare. When I got through reading this tread, my first thought was that they were still going
to make you pay for it until you complained. I hate that. You were 3 mins away and they told you tha tyou couldn't
pick it up, but they failed to give you some good news ...... like... um you know...

THAT YOU WERE NOT GOING TO BE CHARGED!!

I'd relay that to the service manager, and still complain to corporate.

For me, it's not so much that it wasn't done, or that you spent time going to pick it up, or even the fact that they have
at least one of the 3 Stooges working in their garage. It's the deceipt and the poor customer
service. Someone should be fired, actually a couple of people. the mechanic, and the
guy(s) you spoke to on the phone.

Ok remaining calm works sometimes...I bought my KJ used with 24000 miles after i had it for a couple of weeks i noticed that all the emblems had faded very badly i mean they weren't even chrome anymore. I took it in and they told me they would have to order them and it could take a couple of weeks. I explained that i drive 500 miles a week and by the time the emblems would come in i will have gone over the 26000 mile mark, they then looked up my VIN in the computer and said that oh well we couldnt do the service anyway under warrenty because it had gone past the orginal sell date of the vehicle.. I brought it up to the guy that it only had 24000 mi and the chrome should not have fell off, he replied that he was the service mgr and his decision was final. i was agitated at this point and asked for the District Mgr number he said that he was his brother and would back him up...Next best thing i could think of was take things back to my redneck roots....went to the Show room floor, Packed it was Sat, asked with a loud voice, not yelling, show room wasnt that big, for the Sales mgr. Now i didnt buy this jeep from them but one thing I do know is that service quality does drive sales.....I just mentioned the milage of my vehicle and the chrome was falling off and was faded and the service dept mgr refuses to fix it because the purchase date of the orginal owner and he knows that his brother the district mgr would stand by his decision......The Head store mgr came out "talked" to the guy, you could tell it was a heated discussion...came back in with a smile and said they will fix the vehicle without any problems.....

Side note...That dealership in now in Bankruptcy and the Bank is running the place....HMMMMMMMMM I wonder why.....

On a side note, I always put anti-sieze on my lugs. It prevents Galvanic corrosion which is inevitable with aluminum rims on steel + moisture. And the nuts come off without too much grief.

I also never use those air-hammers to remove or install the lug nuts. The dealers always do but when I get home I loosen and properly re-torque all the nuts in a star pattern. My brake discs haven't warped yet either.

Dealers = mafioso of automotive industry. They can just do about anything and say it's not their fault.
