Have had no TSB's or been to the dealer since purchase in Oct 05. TC lockup at 51 mph and 4th-5th at 58 MPH. Got my recall notice the other day for F37 and they said I also needed F23. What is F23?

My shifting & vehicle is identical in every way, except for the born-on as in sig. Also, downshifts to 4th at 58 mph. Not listed for F37, yet...

I have always thought mine was odd, and your numbers seem to confirm that. I don't usually care about the first three gears, but mines seems to go 1-2-3-4-5 and THEN the TC locks. I know the TC isn't locked because I can make the RPM's fluctuate more than the speed. (500 RPM +/-)

Are these trannies supposed to lock the TC in 4th?

Mine locks up in 4th as well as 5th, so I'm hoping so...

I've had F31, and some other flash corrections, but not F37. Your numbers match my CRD's current behavior.

From some of the posts I've read, the flash part of the F37 is identical to the F31. Some who have had the F31 are reporting that the F37 is not requiring a reflash because the system shows it to be current. At least I think that is what they meant. :?

Perhaps once the vehicle is back in the dealer's hands they looked the VIN up on the computer and saw F31/prior flashes had not been done, and used the opportunity to do it? Last time I took my CRD in for an oil change I ended up with The Ball Joint Replacement, because it popped up on the computer for them and they happened to have the parts on hand.

I have ask this before on different posts, but.... If I am NOT listed on the jeep web site for ANY recalls, does that mean that I have the latest flash, and pump, and TC? I may call DC and see if they can look it up as well. Any thoughts? :?:

If I were you I'd be very, VERY happy. I hate the fact that my factory installed transmission and transfer case has been out and back in.

As for the pump, NO ONE has it stock from the factory. It was not introduced for this transmission (used in the pickup trucks as well as our CRDs) until model year 2007 vehicles began production. The pump fails from excessive heat, caused by the improper programming for the transmission and pump we were given. It was good for the diesel, but the pump did not move enough transmission fluid through the transmission at the diesel's low RPM, thus, torque converter slips, thus generates excess heat, ect, ect, ect until the pump and/or torque converter fails.

The replacement torque converter is the same one I had originally, and I have the same pump as they did not/would not replace it - even though I operated under faulty programming for 14,100 miles. There is a very high probability that the last few CRDs have the latest software programming in them to control shifting - thus - if your one of them, your in the best position of any of us as your all new, with no mileage on any of your drivetrain components using faulty software in the computer.

You definitely have the new design lower ball joints - so for now - your not in any recalls and should be quite happy. 8)
