yup checked them all, the stealership also thinks its the BCM since by the time we got there all the things it controls were INOP, and the engine light came on. code was P0500 , speed sensor, and yup speedo didnt work all the way there, and no wipers, of course it was raining.

they gave $700 estimate

Wow, that sucks...

What is / was the mileage of your vehicle when the failure occured? (I didn't read the OP to see if you had it in there)

Was there something about the location of the BCM on some libbys that made it fail? or am I thinking things?

$700 is alot. You may want to let the dealer tell you thats the problem then fix it yourself or let someone else do it that wont rape you.. :?

Before I handed over 700, I'd look at the connections and wires, especially grounds

it was 500 just for the exchange of the unit. its not even in the same place as their manual shows it. he said its supposed to be on the right side but said its behind the box behind the fuse box on the left and would take a while just to get to it.

its got right at 49,000 right now. at least ill have a "new" one hopefully i wont run into this problem again...

Wow $700, that is hella money, u could buy a lift or new tires, but i guess those won't do you any good if it isn't driveable!! good luck i would ask for a reflash before they completely raped me.

The BCM is located behind the fuse box, near the middle of the dash. I had mine replaced just 6 months after I got the Jeep. They had to tear out my dash and such to get to it. I had mine replaced to do similar (but not that extreme) reasons. I went in because my driver door lock would not work. The stearlership said one days fix. I got a call saying my windows don't work, wipers don't work, and all of my doors don't lock/unlock properly. The tech blew out my BCM when working on the driver door problem. Obviously it was under warranty or it would cost just as much as your Stealership is quoting you. 1 days fix turned out to be a one week turn out. They paid for the PiTy Cruiser that I had to use for that time.

For the sake of cost savings has anyone ever replaced the BCM themselves, or is that something a regular consumer cannot get. Maybe a local auto shop? Regardless I wouldn't want to fudge the BCM install or get some cheap fake because its obviously very important to everyday driving.

went to get the mail today, first thing, when i opened the door, the lights didnt come on, thought it was a dead battery, tried the liftgate on the way to the drivers side, nothing.

started right up, but no interior lights would come on, door locks dont work, no head lights.

i could flash on the highbeams pulling back on the turnsignal, brake lights work.

which fuse is it? i cant find any burnt?

help!!! its getting cold and gunna snow soon, we might have to drive at night.

thank you guys so much

As stated before, it could be a BCM issue. The BCM is covered under the emissions warranty, 80k miles I think.
