I went to my local dealer with the F37 recall in my hand and they checked my VIN # in there computer and said my vehicle is not part of the recall. I pointed out the dates on the F37 print out and they told me that if it's not in there computer thet can't do anything about it. IMOH if they all are in the recall they should update the jeep website to include all of the VIN#. If they are not in the recall they should update the F37 file to change the date range. They also could post a notice to CRD owners that they will roll in the remaining CRD's as parts become available. That would be nice to know too, Anything would be better than what we have.

Seems to me that some of the people that have had the recall done aren't happy with it. Not surprising. There hasn't been a day in my CRD that there wasn't a shudder of some sort no matter what kind of fuel, kind of driving, flashes, updates, recalls, fuel air bleeding, fuel filter draining, air filter, VOODOO, or NON-SHUDDER Indian dances I try. I do love my little CRD, But I make sure my bladder is empty before I drive it. lol. 8)

Sorry to say this but sometimes one just get a lemon and noth seems to be able to fix the thing. Maybe that is your problem, but then it could be lousy techs not knowing what they are doing.

While this will probably be true eventually...technically it isn't fact at this point. It doesn't show up on the jeep site or in the dealer system for all CRDs yet....so technically it does not apply to all CRDs..YET.

The longer they can put us off, the more people that will be out of their 3-36 warranty. I am pushing 20K withing 6 months, so it is possible. But, if it is a true Recall, warranty should not matter right?

Where are you getting that from :?: There are quite a few of us who's 06 crd's were made in December 05 and at least January 06 that didn't get the recall. There are later ones that did get the recall. Mine was made in January 06 and is not on the list. We would like to know why but it seems they don't have a fix so for now I really don't want them messing with it

I just had mine done yesterday and i do not notice any loss of power and shudder is gone. I talked to mechanic and he LOVES that car and knows a LOT about it. He said the TC could not handle 300ft lbs of torque at 1800 rpm so hey use a better TC that can. He said they do not mess with anything else to alter torque or HP, strickly TC change. Now while the TC might be more of a stall convertor, etc the engine was not modified. I believe him, he did the work.

The recall notice does indicate that you will experience less torque after the work is done. I'm planning on calling my dealer today since I've brought it a few times with the same issue... argh. Hopefully it will be fixed this time!

Something to wonder about... people who have recieved the service notice should apparently be on the list, right? If so, then why are people getting the speil about not being on the list when they go in? I'd call DC and ask what's up with that. There seems to be a disconnection between the the actual dealerships and the corporate entity... big suprise I know... ;)

I will say this, after the recall was performed my CRD is not the same CRD I had before the change. Its seems a bit anemic now. For those who said they cant notice a difference in power after F37 havent towed or driven their CRDs hard. It is definitely a different vehicle now. I want my old torque back! Diesels are not designed to to be high rpm vehicles. Some how DCX thinks to fix our problems they will just make it rev higher between shift points.
Well had my F37 done recently and I have had it to 105 mph that day. Today I bested 4.7L Nitro, I beat him out of the hole and he quit trying to catch me after about a 1/2 mile. I am pure stock except the muffler, '02 3.7L airbox, and EHM, but I am running 50 cetane ULSD which I am sure helps.

As far as diesels not being high rev engines, that is just hog-wash, my old 83 SOC MB 240 (non turbo) had a 4200 rpm redline, the bi-turbo VW Touareg diesel that does 0>60 in 6.1 sec's, then there is the V10 Audi twin turbo that red lines at 6000 if I remember right and won every entered race in factory unlimited sports cars this past summer. There is a big difference in preformance curves for an OTR Truck or large diesel PU then a HSD engine use in modern auto's.

Bgame, if you would, check the jeep website again for recalls on your jeep. I understand you have already gotten the letter, but I am curious to see if it is showing on the site or not. Yours was built and I believe sold after mine built 5-11-06 bought within 2wks after that. And I dont have a letter yet.

Well, the wife took our Limited CRD in early Tuesday for the F37. They gave her an '06 Dodge Caravan as a loaner for the day (we live 26 miles from the dealer). The dealership called back at the end of day stating it was ready, but we were unable to pick it up as our 5 year old daughter had Christmas play practice later that evening.

I also had both front fog lamps replaced under warranty (lenses were cracking in two or three places each, but absolutely no signs of impact), as well as an intermittent ABS light on. The ABS code was determined even though the light was not on at the time of drop off; wound up being a rear speed sensor. The sensor was not in stock, so a second trip to the dealership next week would be needed.

I also found out that the transmission fluid cooler was in my F37 Recall Package....and that it's integral with the a/c condensor. That's nice to know that a perfectly operational a/c system had to be evacuated & re-charged simply to replace the trans cooler.

Now the fun begins.........about 10 miles from home, there's a 6% grade that is 2.5 miles long. Up until then, Becky said the CRD ran great, showed a slight increase on the avg mpg, and felt pretty good. Upon getting about 1/4 of the way up the incline, she said it vibrated / shuddered----just about like running over the rumble strips on each side of the outside lanes of an interstate highway. It even did the same thing on some smaller hills after returning some books to the Library about 8 miles away.

Becky then returned it to the dealer early again this morning, and was told that maybe the re-flash would need to be done again. They did the re-flash, test drove, encountered the same problem my wife did, and now she's driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix.

The service advisor stated they could have installed a defective convertor. If so, it will be three times that the transmission will have been removed and replaced. I'm sure the tech doing this job over again will be really happy.

We really love our CRD, but this is gettin' kinda krazy, folks.

Greg

Given the amount of labor intensive time involved in performing the F37, I'd like to think DC would not install a re-man convertor.

I almost wish I'd left well enough alone; especially since I have the 7/70 Powertrain Warranty. Most of my problems ocurred w/OD off under moderate to hard acceleration.

My CRD is not on the web site and I've received no F37 letter. I never received a letter for the Ball Joints either, but it eventually showed up on the Delaer's computer system.

The letter came from my dealer. It states " DC asked us to contact Diesel Liberty owners regarding a factory recall on certain vehicles.

If your Liberty is equipped with an automatic trasmission, it needs to be checked and/pr repaired according to this factory recall.

The letter from DC stated"the transmission torque converter in your vehicle may faile. This can cause a rattling sound in the neutral or park positions and/or illuminate the Malfuction Indicator Lamp. Continued operation can result in transmission damage. etc.....

I had to get the F37 recall done on my jeep.. I just got it back 2 days ago and now it's shuttering.. I don't get this it was fine before I brought it in, now back to the dealer next week for a follow up.. The service guy says there may be an "air bubble" in the transmission since they had to replace the fluid.. WOW recalls are fun .. again why did DC decide not to equip these machines with a 6-speed in Canada and USA.. hmmm..

Just got off the telephone with my Service Advisor.

Seems as if my CRD Limited is getting yet another torque convertor.

This one will be #3.......two within 3 or 4 days of each other. I was told it should be ready Tuesday. I said something to the effect "that Tech is gonna love doing this all over again." After the Service Advisor talked with STAR Tech, and got the approval for "#3", he got the District Manager involved. Seems as if the DM is going to authorize to pay the dealership the full labor time for the F37 even though the torque convertor only is being done the second time......and at a little higher hourly rate than the original F37. At least DC is trying to keep the owners and dealers happy it seems.

STAR did tell my Service Advisor to drop the pan.........and if there was anything suspicious, as far as shavings or shrapnel, I'd end up with a complete transmission.

Can't wait for the phone call Tuesday to see what happens next.

At least my wife still has the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Greg

Wow, they actually created the shudder for you? I hope its just an incorrect fluid level. Let us know.
