More news...

I say a front diff on eBay for $100, locla pickup only, about 30 minutes from my house.

I went up to get it and the guy had a whole -02 that rolled parted out.

I ended up getting:

The front diff
Whole rear axle,
Steering wheel/column with radio, cruise, and fog controls.
lots of trim pieces for inside
vent covers (mine ar all broken)
foot area courtesy light
more little stuff

for $365. weee

Good thing is now we can put the gears in this new front diff instead of incapacitating my jeep to see if they fit!

Awesome! Stuff like that just makes your day doesnt it? After you are done with him you should point him here to sell the rest of his stuff.

The only thing of any real value that's left is the automatic tranny, select-trac transfer case (that's the one with 4-hi part time AND full time, right?) and some interior trim panels (black). If any of you guys need any of this stuff, let me know and I can bring to the next run I go to. I'm not 100% sure what tranny or transfer model they are.

***EDIT***

Oh yeah, he also has the engine cradle/carrier thing

Hey I would be very interested in the tranny and trnsfer case out of the 02. The tranny should be a 45 and the transfer case with the full time is a 242.

Al

He still have the engine?

Sweet, I wish I could find something like that around where I live! Let us know how the new front gears go.

There is something kinda like that around Richmond. 2 places actually, CAP and CAR. Both are U-pull salvage yards and there prices are CHEAP! My buddy got a CJ-5 seat and seat frame for $5. I got a Cadillac air compressor and a front CV joint for the KJ for $35.

Whole front axle assemblies (Axle tube, shafts, steering setup, brake lines, everything) are around $180. And yes they do have Wagoneer Dana 44's.

WOOOHOOOOOO!

The front diff is back together with the $150ish 4.10s I got from Dana/Spicer via Reider Racing. They fit in the case just fine! The case isn't installed yet. We're going to put it in Wed after my they put the 4.10s in the and ARB in the back.

NO MORE DEALER GEARS!

Awesome Gris, it's great when somebody takes the plunge :D It's too bad I already have my $300 Mopar gears :x At least the Mopars have compatible depth variance markings; I had to guess when installing the rear Yukons.

Jason, the yoke holding spanner arrives tomorrow. This coming weekend I'm going to crush the sleave and set the final backlash. I ordered a spanner for the front as well, so it should go a little faster.... I'll have to see if I can drive her while the front diff is on the bench.

Craig how is your locker project coming?

Wed we're doing the rear. should be done by the 20th. but not 100% sure. we'll have to install the whole front diff (swap it) because that was done on the spare I picked up.

YAY!!!

I got the jeep back. The front and back diffs are now geared to 4.10. Front has the DTT, back has the ARB locker.

We still have to plumb air to the locker, but that's not a big deal.

As soon as I get the part numbers I needed for the front gears all organized, I'll put a post in general so people can get the right stuff.

It has a lOT more umph on the highway. People said I would feel the DTT hunting and a little pull in the steering, but I really didn;t notice anything driving around. Not going straight on the highway and not turning through the blocks around my house. Can;t wait till next month's run so I can test it all out after the 500 mile break-in period.
