Yes.. After 02 they put the tranny cooler on all libbys and made the power steering cooler come with the trailer tow pack.

What year is your Grand Cherokee? If its a WK, thats not a tranny cooler that you are looking at.. It is a HUGE power steering cooler. The 05-07 Grand Cherokees use a hydraulic fan to cool the engine unlike the traditional electric or engine driven fan. The WK does have some kind of tranny cooler b/c I found the lines going to the front from the tranny, but I couldnt figure out where they went. They do NOT go into the radiator like many may think. I was unable to get an answer in a WK forum..

:)

Did they combine the tranny cooler with the A/C condensor? The CRD is done that way, most bizarre arrangement I've seen.

Might just be another CRD ba$tard part. Just got a nice shiny new one with the latest recall. Looks like the transmission cooler is the lower section with the lines connecting toward the front of the vehicle just below the electric fan.

What is the purpose of a power steering cooler for the Tow package?

It is my understanding that PS coolers are added to help keep the pump cool when you are maneuvering a trailer. Depending on the situation and driver experience, you could really give it a workout...ever watch someone back a trailer for the first time? If not you should try it, just go to the closest boat ramp....and bring popcorn.

Oh boy.... the boat ramp trials and tribulations of a new boat owner. U-haul parking lots are also just as entertaining to visit.

And yes - the PS cooler is indeed added to aid in cooling during slow speed manuvers.

The Wk's tranny cooler is part of the A/C condenser.. I checked it out the other day and could see where the tranny cooler stopped and where the condenser started. Nice little setup if you ask me. :)

Do you know if anybody makes an aftermarket larger transmission pan cover with cooling fins and maybe a preinstalled temperature gage sensor? Or would that defeat the purpose as it may not fit under the skid plate?
