OK, I don't want to do it now, but when she does let me get a Rubicon, how tough would it be to convert the 6spd to an auto so the wife can wheel too? I know it'll go 4 figures.

It would probably be easier and cheaper just to teach you wife to drive a manual. On the other hand, it might actually be better for your relationship to change the tranny.

The best option would probably be to take off your mods on the stick, sell it, buy an auto, and then put the mods back on.

not real bad if you find a "donor" for the plastic
you will need the trany
the mount may be different so you may need that
you will need any wires that go from the auto to the inside ,should be just plug and play on this end
and you will need to reflash your ecu (computer) to work with the auto

when all I had to wheel was a p/u with a 5 speed the wife learned to drive that
anybody can learn to do it but it will take patience on your part and a willingness to learn on hers
The easy way to teach some one to drive stick is to go to a empty parking lot nd have them start and stop about 1000 time until they learn how to do it
or you can do like I did go out with only the ride with the stick then get slam drunk and tell her that she needs to drive home
you will have a good "talk" in the morning but after that she will be able to drive a stick no problem

I understand what you're saying, my wife has yet to drive my 6 speed. But man, the 6 speed is totally a** kickin. Hopefully you can work it out, but my guess it would be better and easier to swap the vehicle than swap the tranny.
Good luck!

I really would not consider converting to auto.. with all the problems that us CRD owners have had with our auto tranny's I'd suggest keeping the 6 speed... in fact I wish I could convert mine to a manual... either way.. good luck.

He doesnt have a CRD. The 45rfe is one awesome tranny. It has nothing to do with the tranny but the programming of the tranny in the CRD's. The 45rfe is the same tranny used in the Hemi Grands and Rams. Our Hemi Grand has that tranny and I love the way it shifts. Good and firm. :)

Oh, she can drive the 6spd just fine - on the road. She wont drive it off road because it's not as easy as with an auto (She saw how easy it was for Eddo, and how tough the same stuff was for me - clutch, gas & ebrake :( ) I guess I'll just go find a older wrangler for her in an auto....

Thanks all.
