My No-slip just saved my stupid today in Lincoln National Forrest when I slid (dropped) off the side of the muddy, Icy, snowy trail. Probably not even locked 4x2 territory, but I'm back at the Hotel !!!

The old lady climbed out the drivers winder...I got back in and got er done.

Was prepared to sleep out there if I had too, as always.

Oh yeah, I found the cure (so far) for the noisy no-slip.

i went to their website and still cant quite figure out what exactly it does. so it gives power to both wheels when one is slipping but still alows whells to move at different speeds in turns? if it does all this then why would any one get a locker?

The Jeep would normally want to send power to the wheel that's slipping, which is usually fine. Iff you have one wheel "slipping" because it's not touching the ground, that tire is just going to spin all day and you won't go anywhere. With a locker it splits the power to both wheels, so you'll still move. Very handy. :D With turns you will chirp the tires around tight corners. Unless you get a locker you can turn on and off.

JJ,

Put about 10 80lb bags of concrete in the vehicle and drive about 1500 miles.

It weakins the springs to where they should be (I guess) and it ain't bad anymore. I guess my springs were just too strong and 35K miles of break in didn't help. 1600 miles loaded down did.

Without MAX flex today, and the locker, I would've had a bigger problem. So, I guess I wern't officially stuck.

I'm also lucky (no damage) because I left my tranny skid in the garage back in Texas.

Maybe time to get a 2002 4X4 ????

The only thing I can guess, is that will ALL that weight in the jeep, the locker never locks up b/c none of the wheels can slip. Mine will lock when Im going slow and taking a tight turn with lots of gas. But if I had ALOT of weight in the back, then the wheels wouldnt slip and the locker couldnt lock, even though it really wants to b/c you are giving it alot of gas.

Thats my take on it.

On the detroit tru-trac, you can fool it into acting like a full locker even with one wheel jacked up in the air. You can do this by lightly appling a little brake, this will cause both tires to pull together even if one is in the air. When the wheels are on the ground, the tru-trac pulls like a locker anyway, but with a lot better street manners. Unless your boulder crawling or something, the tru-trac is a darn good lsd, that can act like a locker, or an open rearend, it's a great unit.

Interesting. I have noticed the locker behave much better when loaded down. On our trip to AZ last week, with four bodies and the rear full of stuff, I never heard a peep out of it.
