OK, so I've got 3 questions:

1. I left my windows cracked overnight and it rained. Nothing got too wet, but the little lights on the lock and mirror controls on the front doors don't light up... the switches work just fine, just no lights. Are these controlled by a fuse? If so, anyone know which number? If they ARE NOT controlled by a fuse, how do I fix them?

2. The stupid grab handle on the passenger dash is rattling. Anyone have this issue? Fixes?

3. It seems as though my tailgate doesn't line up properly with the body. It looks like the driver's side is pushed in towards the front of the Jeep just a tiny bit and the passenger side sticks out past the body towards the rear of the Jeep just a little bit. Is this normal? I don't remember seeing it before. And by a "little bit" I mean about a millimeter.

Thanks so much!

The lights are not connected to a seperate fuse.. They get their power from the wiring that leads to the mirrors / power windows. I don't think the jewels are replaceable - but a Junk Yard switch pack / mirror control would look identical (thank goodness for all black switch gear)

Wait a couple more days to see if the water dries up on the jewels... They might come back to life?

I'm no help here - my passenger dash is sans grab handle

If you are really worried about the alingment of the door - you could try adjusting the alingment plate on the rear side of the body. I've never looked at it, but it probably has some fore/aft adjustment built into it.

You won't be able to move the sides with the hinges - not that I know of at least.

1. Are you sure they lit up to begin with, mine haven't lit up since I've owned the KJ?????

2. If you open the glove box I think there might be some screws that you can tighten, but I'm not near my KJ to check that, so i could be wrong on that...

3. I'll have to check mine on that, sounds like there is the possibility of a hinge issue or maybe nothing really...not totally sure...

I hate to say it But...

One of the gals at work had someone hit her in the spare tire. While backing out of there parking space. The impact pushed her door out in the same manor you are describing. With the tire still on it was just barely noticeable.

Take the spare tire off. Look for any signs of sheet metal damage or warpage underneath. Once we removed her spare you could clearly see how the spare carrier pushed in.

I hope it’s not the case!

Jason

Man, that's bad news about the switches. I hope they come back to life.

I doubt someone has hit it, but I'll look in the morning.

My rear swing gate started dropping with the weight of a steel rim and a 265/75 MT/R,so I took it off and put it on the roof. You can adjust both ends of the swing gate, the hinge side all you have to do is loosen the bolts alittle to move it up or down. The best way I've found is to open the swing gate half way and grab the lower outer edge and lift it up alittle(it will move up if enough force is used),that's how I realingned my swing gate.

So, do you guys think the switches are something the dealer can replace? I've got a buddy who works in service and he puts all my requests in as a warranty repair... so it won't cost anything...

Yeah, the dealer can order you some new switches...

I like having that little jewel at night. Helps me find the mirror switch when someone behind me has too bright of headlights or when I can't find the window switches on the console.

My wife's KJ (2003) has switches that light up. My switches ('05) have fluorescent paint applied to mimic the older, more classy model years.

I feel you on the bad day..
Someone scratched or left a key mark on the left passenger tail end and I have a nice dent on the left passenger door which appeared out of no where...I will post a pic later.
