By adjusting the QD length we are basically raising the upper QD swaybar disconnecting post away from the lower a-arm. If you will notice the knuckle is fatter toward the lower a-arm and gets thinner as it goes up toward the upper a-arm. When turning the steering left or right full lock the QD swaybar post can come in contact the closer to the fatter area of the knuckle it is if the QD remains at the minimum adjusted height. Now ad a lift and the problem is compounded. Adjusting the QD to high will interfer with the tie rod.

I notice already that when I am at full droop that the front part of the A Arm hits the bottom of the housing. I would think that I can't get any more droop. So QDs wouldn't really help. Is that a correct assumption?

sure is alot of debate of disconnects when you dont even need the front heavy booty chunk of metal bar on there. take it off and throw it in the corner of the garage. (this is just my experience, based on a prelowered, towpackage equipped, towbar removed and a full spring rubber about halfway down the rear spring, 42psi front and 36 rear, just cuz i usually have 3 teenage boys in the backseat, firmed it up without stiffening). i do intend to put wheel spacers on the rear to make it more stable on sidehills when wheelin.

LEAVE THE REAR BAR ON ALWAYS. this will transfer traction off road and will balance the handling so both front and rear lean the same.

btw this is where most people chime in about how unsafe it is and how it will roll and that crap. I emphasize leave the rear bar on, what makes this even more of a NONissue is that most of you run "i dont live in town" tires. with loads more air gap than actual rubber on the road. this will most likely not provide you with enough traction to actually roll. when i had dunlop radial R/Ts, it would go into a nice predictable 4 wheel drift with no hint of leaning to far to make you feel the impending roll. with the current original RSAs on, im sure i could make it roll if i did something drunk and stupid. but im neither ;)

i admit i am a much better driver than most anyone you will be driving around, and if your abilities and feel while driving a vehicle are limited, it may make you an unsafe driver under these conditions. in this case you may find yours is leaning too much after this, then you should not have bought an SUV.

I dont care what anyones abilities as a driver are, if the situation you are put into calls for maneuvers that exceed the capability of your vehicle there is nothing that even the best driver in the world will be able to do to avoid a crash. It really is that simple. Removing the front swaybar does increase body roll, and does increase the likelyhood of a rollover.

I do agree that some people should not be driving suv's (im not saying Jeepjeepster is one of them) Learn your vehicle, play it safe and pray you never have to ask more out of your vehicle than it can give.

Running on the street in your KJ without the swaybar is just plain stupid.

again im sure this is advice coming from someone that hasnt tried only the rear bar on. you have no idea what you are talking about. noone that hasnt tried this does. this isnt your fault, you just have no idea what you are talking about, no experience to draw from, just conjecture and spectualtion. ive been driving it this way for over 6 months, it really does feel better this way.

you have no idea how it leans after that in MY vehicle, the way its set up. i can only say what ive experienced, and at the limit, it does a very smooth, controllable, fun, 4 wheel slide and doesnt flip.

and yes like i said before, anyone with lesser driving skills or a different chassis set up should avoid my pleasant situation. but im very happy and no threat at all to the public, its those other guys you need to worry about flipping their jeep on your grandma.

o and btw, when im not 4 wheeling, i remove all the skidplates, spare tire also. so i dont have all that super heavy stuff like winches and roofracks and all that other crap that will make your lifted jeeps flip alot easier than mine.

Just a couple of points here

1) I hope anyone reading this does not use one poster's anecdotal evidence as gospel. Everyone should do their own research from both points of view and look at the physics of everything involved.

2) How would removing skidplates improve your center of gravity and make ones truck less likely to rollover?

(and FWIW ... I added an anti-sway bar front and back ( back was an upgrade) to another truck I had and anecdotally, I can tell you it makes it much less susceptible to any tipping, no matter how hard I push it.)

Skids plates should help you NOT to roll over. They dont really weight enough to do anything though.

Weight that is lower on the jeep is a GOOD thing, not a BAD thing. 8)

Skids, sliders, heavier rims and tires, all that will help keep the jeep on all fours. 8)

yes im aware the skid plates wouldnt matter about a roll over, and its especially irrelavant since im not gunna roll over anyways. and i put it in there several times that it is only my experience and in my specifically set up jeep.

Not meant to be an insult, but it's kinda funny...

jcphoto20 has 95 posts, 92 of them are defending himself for removing his front sway bar.
