Hi all,

Does anyone know of a roof rack that will fit an 05 Renegade that doesn't sit on top of the roof bars? Ideally I would like to completely replace the stock roof bars with just a roof basket/rack. At the very least I would like a rack that tucks down between them to keep a low profile look. I don't like the look of the mopar basket sitting way up on top of the bars (not baggin on anyone who has that setup just my personal preference :) )

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!!

It's a jeep thing, my levels of perception are sufficient to ascertain your implication

I am the same way, I never have liked a rack way in the air, so eventually it forced me to make my own mount, and put a megawarrior basket on top of that. Pics are on my cardomain, link in signiture, some where around page 7-8 if you want ideas.

I am actually going to fab something up from PVC. I am not sure what diameter I'll use. I have to do this because I only have two more inches before it hits my garage door. So I was going to fab some PVC that sat on the roof, connected to my yakima system and only came above my yakima cross bars by about an inch.

Here's a link with some good info about custom racks that attach where the stock rails go.

Thanks for the info guys and gal. The one in the link you posted is exactly like what I want.

It looks like the owner still had to do a lot of custom fab work for the mounts.

Yep, they did still have some work to do. But they did end up with a sturdier rack and a lower height for their trouble. Are there any metal shops up there that might help you out? Or just keep your eye open for someon selling one. There was one a little while ago, I don't remember if he sold it or not. It was either in the sale or west section.

I appreciate all of JJ's hard work that went into the rack that's now on my Jeep. Yeah JJ!
