After months of wishing, waiting and dreaming. It finally happened. I got an ARB Air Locker installed. Ever since I smashed into a tree at the Snowshoe Jeep Jamboree. I have wanted one. This damage would have been prevented with it.

The sucker has been setting on the work bench since October. But better late than never right? I installed a Viair onboard air system in the fall to power the unit. I know I could have gone with an ARB compressor but wanted something that can air up tires faster, and run air tools also. Jeff Daniels Jeep Customs did the gear work for me. That’s one area I felt more comfortable with leaving to the professionals.

No wheeling experience with it to report yet. But hope to solve that problem soon.

Congrats. You're going to love it. Then the fun begins. See how well you can do running it open. Get in trouble in mid-boulder? Flip the switch. It's so cool. Had mine for 2.5 years now.

thanks for the pic ... now I just have to work the justification arguments out with the wife before I start my presentation :)

G/L with it and I'm interested in hearing the story as well.

Thanks all. Yes it does feel great.

As for the crash story. Take a look at the first photo.
Image
It was taken just before impact. The tree with the blue ribbon was the one I hit. I had the front of the Jeep over the big rock on the drivers side. The rear was hung up on this boulder and the other side keep breaking loose.

After about three tries the trail guide suggested we break out the winch (you see where this is going). Mind you I had been taking crap all day being the only Liberty out there in a group of 23 Jeeps. This was the last obstacle over the rock garden and I was not about to give the others the satisfaction. I decided one more try an gave it a full throttle charge. Slipped again and went side ways. :(

The others watching said the look on my face was priceless. All I heard was the tail lamp shattering. I thought it was the side glass. Believe me it sounded like it was 10x more damage than what happened. Every one of us had to be spotted thru this area. If you didn't have a locker you where probably winched out. Out of all the Jeeps I think 7 or 8 of us hit that D@#% tree. I told the trail guide. I was going to burn the tree in my garage this winter to keep the Jeep warm.
