So I'm getting the Jeep back today after having an ARB locker installed. What kind of break in should I be worried about before any HD off roading? The Mid-Atlantic is getting together for a ride at Paragon Saturday. I'm not sure if I should go now.

What do you think too soon?

Thanks
Jason

I was told 500 miles to break it in and to be very carefull before that to avoid any shocks or towing.

As much as all this cost, I'm not chancing it.

The break in is more for new gear sets, did you change your gears? But to play it safe drive moderatly for 500 miles than change the fluild.Drive for awhile till the rear end builds up some heat than let it cool for a couple of hours and repeat(heat cycling the gears for long wear).

when I had my ECTED installed in my Ranger they told me not to go over 60mph for the first 1000 miles...but they had to reset the backlash with that install.

Jeff Daniels Jeep Customs did the install for me. I read too 500mi but wasn't sure. I already had 4.10's so the rear gears were just reinstalled. They did have to remove the pinion to get the gears to set back up right since the locker replaced the carrier.

While it was there they also replaced the front R&P. I had a chipped tooth that was grinding all the time. So in essence. Yes, I had the gears re-done all around.

500 miles is no big deal. I will have that by tomorrow night. 140mi. home from the shop. Tomorrow I have to go to Western Maryland, 150miles each way (lots of mountains I have to go up and over). If I do that, and then change the oil tomorrow night. Then 160miles to Paragon Saturday am...

The guys at the shop said no problem. With this kind of break in. My better since tells me not to go. But I want to go test this out bad.

what kind of price did you get for the install, anyone else know what a typical locker install price is, I may get an easton.
