Hey Ya'll (yea I said it!), I was wondering if anyone had any idea what size HiLift Jack would fit in the cargo area of the Jeep lying across. I have seen pictures of this application done this way and was wondering what size jack would fit.

Thanks in advance!

48" Also fits under the back seat of some KJ's, Pre-04's only though IIRC.

The 48" jack will fit across the back of the cargo area just inside the door. And you just strap it down with the two tie downs that are there. With the foot off, it will can also be strapped to the tie downs on the back of the rear seats. It will not fit between the wheel wells but it will fit over them.

Just a note. You'll have to take the extra eye off the top of the jack to get it to fit.

I put my high lift under the back seat. That way you don't have to think about it unless you need it. The only thing I worry about is if I get stuck in a tight canyon I would not be able to open the doors to get the jack out.

Where are those of you with Hi-lift Jacks attaching them to your vehicle when you actually go to use them? I was going to get one but I don't see how we can use them with stock bumpers.

I have front and rear receivers and rockrails with gives lots of places for the jack. There is also a niffy gadget called a "lift-mate" that lets you lift using a wheel.

I don't have a hi-lift brand, instead I got one at the northern tools: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&productId=200310544&R=200310544

I was able to fit it under the rear seats on my '04.

This works great and lifts and delifts just like the hi-lift, not sure if the exention work on it or not...

I'll post a pic up. Just slid right under fits nice and tucks well.

Oh, was a 48".

Someone had worked out a gizmo so you could lift from the side with out nerf bars..

I don't know the details but it was something like a lenght of 2" steel (like for a trailer hitch) with a pin welded into the back end. The pin slid into holes on the frame rails and the lift went into the open end. Then had a length of wood that would go between this arm and the KJ. The wood would spread the weight out and protect the weld seem.

Clint: what mods do you have on your kj for rear suspension? I see some replacements under there, or are some items just painted?

I also stow a 48" HiLift (Handyman) under the rear seat of a '02 Limited. Even in the HiLift protector bag, it fits nicely. I even managed to stow a strap under there too. To date, I have yet to need it.

Hey Vxla, I swapped out my rear lower control arms to the RE lower control arms. They give more articulation that the stock arms and they are also adjustable. I picked these up from All J Products http://www.boulderbars.com Hope that helps. Later...Clint

My Hi-Lift brand 48" fits under the rear seats. But I never thought of that fact that I could get stuck and not be able to open doors! What are the odds?

Oh, and do I see the thread starter here is yet ANOTHER KJ owner named ADAM?

Just remember, AdamIsAdam!

Clint, overspray on your undercarriage? Do tell? (And why aren't your trailing arm mounts bent like everyone elses?

I was unable to fit the 48" Hi-lift under the rear seat of our '04 (different design than earlier models)

The Jack does barely fit in the cargo area "foot side to the passenger side".

I was considering cutting an inch off of it so the Jack would fist easily in the rear cargo area without scratching the plastic panels. Just use ratchet straps to secure the jack I've also got an 18" cable with loops on both ends that I can attach to the tow hitch and to Jack with a padloc and still close the gate (the door insualtion/molding allows for the thin cable). This way the jack is less likely to come flying forward in an accident. (safety 1st ! ) It is more work when you need it...but I like the extra protection

The All J interior rack is rumored to have an attachment point for a highlift...we'll see

They're just ground down flat from all the rocks !

Wow folks! Thanks so much for all your replies! I really appreciate all the info. I"m def. going to get one because I think it'll become useful, up here in Washington, or WORSHINGTON to some, I'm always out seeing some H2s in the ditch because they think they can do what a Jeep can. haha

Take care!
