I have heard others say after lifting that they got worse fuel economy.

I wouldn't think a 2' lift and a change from 29" to 31'' tires wouldn't make a noticable change. Most of the time bigger tires are installed after a lift and people don't get the computer reprogrammed so the mpg calculations would be incorrect. Or if the change in tire size is extreme the engine works too hard to turn them over and economy would be impacted.

Have those of you that are lifted and recalibrated your computer noticed a decline in fuel economy?

it all depends on the tires you pic. i have the general grabber at2 and they arent to agressive. i think i'll lose .5 to 1mpg but i havent run a full tank on the tires. if you get mt type tires kiss your mpg good-bye

Well, if you get a 2.5 lift, heavier tires and all the skid protection you can handle, you add about 150 to 200 pounds for all the skids, heavier rolling resistance tires that take more gas to "get going" and you are raising your profile to catch more drag and the air has an easier airflow underneath the vehicle which would cause even more drag. In my CRD, I went from 22 city to 20 with all my mods. I dont think it was the weight of the armor but the heavier 265/75's and the extra drag of the lift.

Hope this helps.

Dave

AZ,

Do you have any pics of your CRD with the 265s? I've also got a CRD with a 2.5" lift, and am considering what size tire to upgrade to.
