Got my Rubicons and MTR's

Joel,

I did the driver's side tonight and I noticed I need to do some more softening and pushing in on the fog light section.

I am not sure if the pinch weld plastic cover will rub yet or not. I dremel-cut the plastic upwards and didn't cut across. Hammered away at the weld and watched the paint flake off.

Used Krylon Rust proof primer (BX was $3.xx cheaper than at Checker Auto - $2.69/can and tax free compared to $6 something/can.

I heated the plastic cover and molded it to almost flat and "plastic welded/soldered" it into place. I'll have to find out tomorrow and see if that part rubs still. I have all of Saturday morning to get the other side done and push in the fog light area on the one I tried tonight.

Joel....what did you use to push in the softened plastic on the front side (fog light area)? I pushed on it with the old shoes I was wearing.....LOL!

I didn't worry about the fog light area too much since it is just plastic. I barely notice it and the wheel has to be at full lock. You can always use the heat gun and push it forward. Just be careful on the passenger side...the washer bottle is back there somewhere and you don't want to melt a hole in that. :shock:

When you open the glass in the back does it hit the spare?

Auggy, the Rubicon wheels have more offset than the stock wheels so it actually moves the tire further away from the glass. Even on stock rims I haven't heard of anybody having a problem with a 245/75/16 tire getting in the way. If it did you just add some washers behind the spare tire mount. That spaces it out just enough to clear the tire.

How long will you be in Germany? I think you will pay more for shipping than it cost to buy.

Maybe you should have them shipped to your parents/brother/sister/grandparents house and either 1) have them ship it to you (birthday present is them paying for the shipping cost) or 2) wait until you are finished with your tour and get stationed back in the states and then put them on.

Don't they sell the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon over there?

Liberator84 Just do what I did. Look for someone on base that got Rubicon and convince them it would look much better with a lift and new tires and wheels and offer to buy theirs from them to offset the cost. :twisted:

If you need a lift give Quinn at AllJ Products a call. I know he shipped two Frankenlifts via US Postal Service to me and another guy here in Iceland.

Find someone with a Ribicon and convince them it would look much better with a lift an new tires/Wheels and offer to offset the cost by buying theirs old ones. :twisted:

I got my set here in Iceland.

If you need a lift call Quinn at AllJ Products I know he already shipped two Frankenlifts ia US Postal Service here to Iceland. I am sure he can do it to Germany as well.

Yeah, by the time I get back into the states. Jeep will have already made a Jeep Liberty Rubicon addition. THen every Joe, Richard, and Harry will have one.
