Just curious about everyone's thoughts on this. Would you buy another one?

I voted: Yes I'm Happy, but I wouldn't consider another Liberty

Now for my reasoning: It seems that all of the early Liberty's have few or minor problems compared to the later models. Or in my eyes - the earlier models seem to have less catastrophic failures than the later ones. Now, this is only my opinion - I have no facts to support my thoughts so please no bashing. But this thought alone will keep me from buying a second Liberty.

Also, in my eyes, Jeep shouldn't have ever changed out the transmission after the first year or lowered the springs to satisfy some bean counter. I still don't understand why they switched transmissions midstream.

However, I love my Liberty. I'm glad I bought it and it's never let me down. It takes me everywhere I need to go, it'll haul almost anything and at the same time has a pretty smooth ride on the highway. As an aside: I'm looking forward to no car payment for at least 3 to 4 years before I have to retire the Liberty from active duty

I like my 2002 Limited and I really like Jeep but I dont think I would buy a newer Liberty. Kind of the same reasoning as sleeve84028, sounds like there are a lot of problems and to be honest, I'm not sure if I like the newer ones.

I wouldnt get rid of the one I have for anything and will probably run it into the ground, but I want to see what happends in 2008 to make a firm decision. Hopefully I wont need a new anything for a couple of years (or more) anyway.

I have to answer "yes, but not another liberty" because Jeep, IMHO, screws up the liberty royally with the new redesign. I hate the new square look. The 42RLE sucks in reverse. The lower ball joint design is moronic.

The new wrangler looks nice, so does the pick-up.

I love my liberty and would probably buy another KJ...but I would only consider another 07' or older. I'm not sure on the KK yet. I think my next vehicle will most likely be another Jeep...but it may or may not be another liberty. I'll probably look at a new 2-door Rubicon JK in a CRD platform if it is ever released....

I was graced enough to have the Prelowered KJ with the 45RFE.... 8)

Not ready to vote yet because my sentiments aren't reflected in one of the choices.

I'd buy another Jeep, but my Liberty preference is for a 2002 or 2005 model. They seem to have the fewest problems from what I've read on this forum.

I don't see the value of this poll. Not sure it will provide any definitive info since everyone uses/values their KJs for different qualities. For example, if I never went off road, I'd probably prefer a Patriot or Subaru Forrester for the better gas mileage. My wife likes the Liberty but has no interest in offroading. If not for me, she probably would have bought a CRV or some other silly cute ute.

The liberty and patriot are the only 2 newer jeeps I like, the comander is ok, but thier dropping that. I can't stand the looks of the new wrangler, GC and compass. I've allways had an old jeep around since the willys, don't expect that to change. There's so many older jeeps around, I'll have a life time supply available to me no matter what DC does. I will soon be buying an old yj to play with and expect to have the libby along time. Thats the good thing, you don't have to like what DC is doing, there's 65 years of jeeps to be had, there's something out there for very body.

Well I traded in my 2002 KJ 3.7L for a 2006 CRD. I do like the original KJ for many reasons...tuff, safe, size, turning radius, Full-Time 4WD, ect. Now I love my CRDs mileage. All that being said, DC seems confused now on what to build and how to show loyal customers appreciation. They are not backing up thier vehicles with proper warranty "fixes". Why have the LBJs still not been "fixed"? They were bad in 2002 and they are still getting recalled in 2007...ridiculous! The CRDs have a TC/Tranny that can not handle the Torque of the Diesels. Jeeps answer to this is to reverse engineer a "fix" and reduce torque and replace parts with other parts that are not Diesel Specific.

Jeep has a rich history of Tuff 4WD vehicles. They have never looked like the majority of other vehicles on the roads. The Wrangler is still a one of a kind. The Liberty KJ is unique in many ways and a great "bang for the buck". The concept vehicles like the Dakar, Rescue and Gladiator are all made with this same unique form concept...but they don't make anything that even resembles these vehicles. Instead they offer the Compass, Commander, New Liberty and Patriot. Instead of bringing in the New Liberty and Patriot for the Jeep Dealership to sell...they start off with the Compass and Commander. The Compass just doesn't work or sell and the Commander is expensive. The Patriot should have been added with the new Liberty for the year 2007. Instead Dodge dealers get the jump with the Nitro a year earlier. This just doesn't make sense.

I also think they should forget selling using the all too familiar "Rebates" and sell the Jeeps at a fair price "ALL YEAR LONG". Put a confidence inspiring warranty with a good price on the Patriot, New Liberty, Wrangler, ect. and watch thier sales climb.

So far I appear to be the only no vote. Why? Not necessarily because of the vehicle, it's a nice package and assembly seems to be pretty good as I haven't had many squeaks and rattles. It's the problems it has and or will have. All of them are engineered into the vehicle. Some have been rectified, most not, you just have to keep replacing things. I don't think Ball joints should fail. I don't think the replacement ball joints should fail. I don't think radiators should crack in less than (you pick) 1 to 5 years, and less than 100,000 miles. I don't think the resistor block for the HVAC should have to be replaced within 6 mos or so of regular usage. I also don't think my interior lights and dash lights should wink and blink at me because the light control stalk lasted less than 1 year. I come from a Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge family. The first 4 vehicles I owned were from CPD. One was a clinker and I left them. I came back for the Liberty, and I will be leaving them again. I will keep my '02 for another 4-5 years as my daily driver for work. I know it's weaknesses, it's paid for, and I still basically like the vehicle. Just not enough to buy another, or another DCX product. Let's face it, Jeeps today are not the same as the jeeps from AMC, just like AMC jeep's weren't the same as those from Willy's. I still hope to someday own a nice CJ5, but no more new Jeeps for me.

For reference, I bought my '02 new because they finally built a family style jeep with reasonable leg room front and back that was tougher then the other small 'ute choices(and wasn't a GM). Also, the only problem I haven't had yet is the radiator, but I am inspecting for it everytime I check the oil and I fully expect to find it at some point.

My .02, flame if you must.

I took the first choice. The caveat for me would be another diesel. I wouldn't consider a gas Liberty.

I'd buy a Jeep anything except the Compass. I don't mind the vehicle, but the styling is what kills it for me. That's what the Patriot is for.

I might go for a 4 Door Wrangler if I were to consider another Jeep,
or something a little larger.

I love the look of my 06 KJ , but it's not exactly comfortable nor does it provide
fuel economy. I thought I'd be getting better mileage than my ysual 15.7 mpg
and I bought it mostly because with very little down and rolling in some of my upside
down loan my payment is $240 less a month than what I was paying on my tricked out Titan.

I downsized my vehicle and my payment, but I gave up comfort and room.

I am on my second KJ, my first was an 02, and then my 05. It has taken me from Southern GA to San Diego,CA and then to Southern VA and no major issues.

But I will have to see what the new ones turn out to be. Before I decide to get another one.

I already have two KJ's, love them both but doubt I will ever buy another IFS 4x4 again. I am wanting a JK which will very likely be My LAST new vehicle purchase or new 4x4 at least. I am so happy w/ the performance of my XJ that I will definately build more of those in the future.

I'll buy another Jeep again, but probably not another Liberty. I've got my eye on a new JK, is the main reason. I'm going to keep my KJ for a long time, gonna lift it here eventually. My plan is to have my Lib as a mostly unstoppable commuting vehicle that I can take through some fairly wicked offroad stuff, and the JK will be the dedicated off road toy. Maybe.

Honestly was just curious to see how people felt about their Libby, and give people an opportuntity to share their thoughts. I'm in the "would buy another Jeep, but not a Libby" category. The KJ is an awesome little ride, I'm just looking for something a bit stronger off-road next time around. Even with the little quirks here and there, I must admit that I will stay loyal to Jeep. Glad to see some folks feel that way too ;)

I live in an all-jeep household. My mother drives an '04 WJ Rocky Mountain Ed., my father an '07 KJ Lattitude, and I just bought a JK Rubicon. If I had the money, I would actually buy ANOTHER jeep- any year Renegade with CRD, and just build it up as much as I could. We've always been a Jeep family. I waivered a little bit a few years ago when I bought a Saab 9-3 Aero in 2004, but it was a good decision, as that was what allowed me to get into my Rubicon this year :D . I will always have a jeep in the family, regardless of year (but I am model specific- no XK, Compass or Patriot). I would love to have an old Willys to drive around in (and pamper because its an antique), or like I said, a built CRD Renny...

I've had my libby since december 20th... so far I love it, and since it has started snowing I have found something new each day that I am very happy about. The latest? The fact that the washer resivour holds an entire gallon!!!

What else? everything. Only complaint: Lack of cubby hole storage up front.... the glove box is too small, and the elbow rest could be a better shape.
I purchased my libby with the intention of eventually getting a 4-door JK rubi.... just wanted to get comfortable with the engine and the brand. So far so good.
