Okay Jeepjeepster, we’ll help you out. Drain your transmission and transfer case the best you can, naturally you can’t remove all the old transmission fluid, but that’s okay. Add your new Amsoil Transmission fluid. Yes you will have a mix, but again that is okay. I’m a little anal about having the new and old mixture so here is what I do. I buy a new vehicle, I run factory transmission fluid for about 5,000-10,000 miles depending on the vehicle and whether I am towing or not. I then change to Amsoil synthetic. So lets say that I now have a 70/30 blend of New/Old transmission fluid. I drive another 5,000 - 10,000 miles and then change it again. This time I have a much higher mixture of Amsoil Synthetic and will change my trany and transfer case fluid every 30,000 thereafter. To address you next question. If something mechanical goes wrong with your transmission, and the Dealer blames the problem on Amsoil, then Amsoil will stand by you as long as you have changed it as recommended. Amsoil will perform a oil analysis to prove that their oil was not the problem. If for some unknown reason Amsoil fails to meet the requirements they will pay for your repairs. Last I knew, Amsoil had never lost a legal battle due to product failure. Amsoil kicks booty by outperforming the factory transmission fluid. Now if you add Lucas to your trany fluid, then you are asking for problems. Lucas might not be beneficial if you are running Amsoil. If anything, it could change the chemical makeup. So don’t worry. I just sold my 1995 4x4 Tahoe with 247,000 miles on the factory Transmission and Motor. And I towed a lot of weight in the dead of the summer running the A/C from OKC to Gallup New Mexico (mountain driving with automatic transmission) without the temperature gage moving. Every time my mechanic changed the transmission fluid he couldn’t believe that the pan was spotless and the magnet showed normal wear.

You only got 98 cents here. Let me give you the other 2 pennies. ATF 4 is a synthetic fluid plus friction modifiers to protect against shutter. I agree with JJ this time, the Amsoil fluid is a good choice without any other additives.

YOu don't normally agree with me?! Hmm..... :?
