On my Cherokee when you turn on the lights it lights up the shifter to see if you are 2h,4h,n,4l but the other day in the early morning when going to work in my Liberty during freezing rain I reached down and noticed no lighted shifter so I found it and pulled it. I asked if a bulb could be burnt out but was told there is no lighted shifter. What are your thoughts? I did try a seach but was overwelmed with non related subjects.

what about going to the junk yard and pulling one from a XJ or what ever has them
clean it up and reinstall into the KJ
The leaver is the same on the KJ and TJ so I would guess that it would be the same as the XJ
you could probably get one new from the dealer to mach your int.

I'll have to check, but I think mine has a light in it
