Has AllJ ever changed the design of their bolder bars, it asks to specify year of your KJ for ordering. I'm looking to buy some used. On the 05 and up, can you remove the plastic running board and mount them flush with the bottom? I've always disliked the black plastic under the doors. Any help would be appreciated. I like the looks of the 04 and under without the black plastic, is their a way I can do the same.

The space between the pinch weld and the frame rails is a little different on the 05-07. So you do need to purchase the bars for the appropriate year KJ you own.

Removing the plastic would leave behind a preety unfinished looking piece of metal.

Yea, if you think you don't like the look of the black plastic down there...take 'em off and see how bad you don't like it. Whew! That's ugly!

Agreed on the plastic, leave it on, because it looks like carp without it. As for the measurements, all my sliders are built exactly the same in the same jig, only difference is the actual length of the slider bar for the 05-07 is 5" longer that the older model. Pinch seam to frame measurements are the same on my sliders, and have never had any problems. Here is a link from my website to show how to modify the lower trim so it works with rock rails, and still appears stock: http://www.rocklizardfabrications.com/i ... s_05kj.htm

I'm not personally familiar with the boulder bars, but I would assume they are similar to mine, except the main bar is different in length. Call the guys at AllJ and find out what the actual difference is. My 02-04 sliders would work on the newer KJ's, because they mount exactly the same, but the wouldn't extended toward the wheel wells as much as the appropriate rails.

The Boulder Bars for '02-'07 are the same. If you are ordering the '05 and newer you will get the directions on how to modify the plastic trim to fit the bars under. With the directions Rock lizard provided you will not need them.

This is a shot of my '05 with the All J's bars.

Yes they have..... just a bit
they have been pretty much consistant on the design too
I happen to be the one that has the first prototype on my KJ - those belonged to Skrracing..... but since he parted with the KJ, I got them from him.... the design is the same - mount points have been moved a bit.
Besides that nothing else but a solid Boulder Bar -

About that black plastic....
What I;m thinking of doing is making some rock rails myself out of tubuar steel and having them sit where the black plastic tube is now. Now I just need to learn how to weld and I'm all set 8) .

That’s interesting. When I got my bars in Oct '05 there was only the one size. There were a few threads about the different apparent length because of the ’05 change in trim. When did a longer bar come about?
