these are cast iron, they are good lifts. hilift is a brand, remember that.

HAVE fun using this as a winch. Don't count on that to get you out of situations, you should get a real winch, should be first on your list right behind skids and tires.

I have the harbor freight farm jack and have used it more than once
if you know how they work you will realize that they are all almost the same and will all bend in the same way
all I would say is to use caution when using any jack espicaly off road

How ever keep this in mind when looking for a jack
what are you jacking? can you get away with a good 2 or 4 ton bottle jack insted?
I carry both and if all I need to do is change a tire the I go for the bottle jack it is safer and easier to manage
If how ever I or someone else needs to replace a lost spring the farm jack it is

I once saw a guy use a farm jack and a long bolt to compress a spring some what to get it back into the front of a TJ
they used a rachet strap to keep it closed it was quite cool ,dangerous but still cool and worked great
other than this kind of stuff I prefer the ole bottle jack all you need to lift is the distance from the rim to the end of the tire +1 inch with a farm jack on the bumper of a TJ set up like mine you will need to lift the bumper >30" from the "at rest" point to get the front tire off the ground
A 48" farm jack is just barely long enough

Just M.O. and some food for thought
