I love my Liberty CRD but I am jealous of all the sweet long arm kits. I think I am going to ditch my big payment every month and spend the money on a Cherokee and mods. I am digging the WJ Grand. Any thoughts? I have had my Liberty 1 year and my car A.D.D. is kicking in :(

The WJ is an incredible vehicle. I wholeheartedly reccomend it. Make sure you get one with the SFA instead of the IFS (Overland model only I think) and you'll be in mod heaven. Even stock I've found our WJ to be more capable than our KJ (putting on flame retardant suit), but with a little less flex when loaded to the max. On road it has an excellent ride similar to the liberty, but with all the offroad advantages of SFA. It doesn't handle as well as the liberty, nor does it accelerate like that. It has more cargo room, true fold flat rear seats, cargo tiedowns everywhere, SFA, and last but not least: the 4.0 I6 :D. It's just a hell of a vehicle, and even with mods, you can clean it up well enough to take out for a night on the town, go on vacation to a fancy place, and do all of the luxury SUV things. Get a WJ and you won't be disappointed...granted, you also won't be disappointed if you KEEP YOUR KJ lol...Maybe you can refinance your loan on the KJ and come up with lower payments for a longer time period?

I don't see anything wrong with "upgrading" your Jeep to something different...

I know all too well about the car A.D.D. but my medication is to have a second car that breaks down all the time to keep me from off-loading the Liberty. I'm glad I haven't because it's no-car payment time now!

Go for it!! You will still be lost though! I love seeing those big old lumbering boats wheeling their big overgrown butts off!
Shop around and you just might find one w/ some mods already done to it. BTW, You gotta have Some bling on a WJ, some of those nice blingy chrome or polished wheels w/ MT/R's and beadlocks or similar always look sweet on a modded WJ.
If you do and you start modding it, Please report in our Grand section all about it. We need some more tech posts in that section.

None of the WJ's came with IFS. They were ALL SFA. No worries about that.

Im not going to start on the comment of a stock WJ being better than a stock kj.

The WJ would be awesome offroad but I believe you would be happy if you put a lift, some armor, wheels, and some sliders on the kj. Im not sure where you are wanting to take it though. Ive seen some stock kj's some some fairly awesome stuff. 8)

Good call on the IFS. A quick trip over to wjjeeps.com verified no IFS. I was mis-understanding the "Up Country Suspension Package". I thought it changed the vehicle to IFS. My Bad.

Stock Jeeps are all in how you drive them. I'm talking BONE STOCK...like...down to OE tires. Our WJ (rocky mountain edition) with it's OE tires wheels better (around here) than our KJ (latitiude edition) with it's OE tires. It could also have been that I'm more comfortable beating on a 4 year old WJ than I am beating on a new KJ, but I found the WJ to tackle things with greater ease. That's all. The KJ goes to the same places that the WJ goes, but I (OPINION here) found it to be an easier drive in the WJ. Don't get me wrong, I love our KJ to death...I mean, I need something to get groceries in  after all. I can't wait to get a lift and some tires on the KJ...it's going to be a hell of a vehicle, much better than our stock WJ.

Something I think about every know and then too as I love the WG/J's, but I bring myself into reality by understanding the fact that the Grands have they're fair share of issues too. Electrical, driveline, gearbox's ect.

and if you were to 'mod' one, especially going down the LA route, that's big $$$$ no matter what, then you'll have the problems associated with it. The guys over here who have LA Grands on 285/75/16's say they ride like wounded dogs - thats when I turn back around to my KJ and think, swwet jesus this thing drives nice........... 8)

I was looking around on ROF and getting all jealous of the big tires and stuff and then I started to think that I should just keep the liberty for after church random wheeling and get an old XJ for planned, coverall wearing, tree scraping, sidewall puncturing off-road trips. In the mean time I am looking for a good deal on some Rubicon take-offs and I should be good to go with the liberty.
