I was going thru my speedbump-infested parking lot this morning in 1st gear, and just as I was about to push the clutch in while slowing down I felt the Jeep take over and it just kept going with no gas and the clutch up. I just sat back and enjoyed the ride.

Is this normal?
I read somewhere else about The Jeep Creep, but I can't find much info on it; is that what this is?
Later I tried it while in a traffic jam and it worked, except for one time it felt like it was giong to stall, so I aborted mission.

I hope this is a good thing, and not a malfunction.
If it's a good thing I was wondering if this also works in other gears or is it just 1st?

Normal. It was probably still on it's fast idle before warm up. At least it wasn't bucking. Not until you hit that speed bump anyway.

Probably just that low first gear doint its thing. It would die easier in higher gears though.

On level ground you can pretty much do that with any manual tranny...provided you let the clutch out slow enough and don't hit the brakes at all. My Mazda 3 is a manual and in *almost* stand still traffic last night I just crept along in first gear without touching the gas or the brakes. A speed bump would probably kill it though. :D

Yes any manual will do that , best thing is to get to a long stretch of beach put it in 4 low, 2nd or 3 rd gear and it will just cruise down the beach all day very slowly   Daytona used to be a great place to do that till they messed it all up

We used to go to Bike Week every year in the 80's. Last I heard, a bunch of years ago they curtailed the driving on the beach because of a few u-know-what's who had to ruin it for everyone. I think that's what he's talking about. :(

.... yeah, I creep along all the time in my jeep. The heavy engine and flywheel (loads of rotating mass) make it less prone to stall. It will creep uphill as well, you would be suprised.
