Hi guys,

Recently whenever I switch from 4 wheel to 2 wheel, I hear/feel a pretty loud THUMP. It sounds like its coming somewhere from under the car. It happens about 10-15 seconds after I switch.

Is this normal? Should I get it checked out??

Thanks for your help!

-Patrick.

Are you sure it disengages fully when you lower the lever? Are your wheels straight when you lower the lever? Are you sitting still on a hill when you lower it?

I'm pretty sure its fully disengaed (if i do a slow/sharp turn, the car wont shake like it would if I was in 4 wheel, so I'm assuming its back in 2 wheel). Wheels are straight, and I am very rarely on hills.

Ive had the Jeep for 3 years, but have only noticed this sound recently. It never used to happen.

Thanks!

When did you last change the fluid in the transfer case? Sounds like you might be a little low.

I remember someone posting something about letting the wheels spin while on a hydrolic lift to unbind the transfer case or something like that?

Hmmm, I dont think Ive ever changed the fluid in the transfer case. But now I'm thinking I should. haha

I guess I'll bring it in to be checked. I guess I should just stay in 2 wheel until them.

Thanks!

-Patrick.
