Question about relays

RIght now I have 4 lights running in 2 groups, 2 lights off one switch and relay and the other 2 off another relay and switch.

I was thinking of putting all 4 off one switch, can I do this using a standard 3 pring automotive switch just connecting the trigger wires for both relays to the switch or do I need a double throw switch the trigger each relay seperately? I know the relays require little current but I am not sure if it's fine to wire 2 relays to the same switch?

you can run all off one regular switch.

Just split the wire out of the switch into 4 leads and connect 1 to each relay.

I guess I didn't phrase my question right, I know I CAN just split the wire off the switch, I was wondering more do I need to increase the guage of wire on the ground of the switch, is there any fear of the switch overheating running to 2 relays?

nope. The trigger of the relay uses such a small amount of amperage that you can run many of them off a stnadard 20a automitive switch.

I have 4 relays for 4 sets of lights on my roof rack all running off a single 20 amp switch and 18g wires.

Also, unless you are supplying ground to the relays through the switch instead of 12v, the only thing the switch ground does is connect the LED/Lamp circuit. It has nothing to do with what's going to the relay.
