I got up early sunday morning to go boating with my girlfriend. As I was walking to my KJ, I noticed that my rear passenger side window was "open". I was trying to recall if I left it open but reason set in when I remembered that I never leave windows open or doors unlocked overnight. Well, my worst fear came true when I see shattered glass on the ground and all over my backseat, not to mention random shards all over the car. It was obviously a smash and grab job. They rifled through my center console and glove compartment. They also took change sitting in my ash tray as well as a shopping bag with flip flops, a towel and tennis balls. What they didn't steal would've been more valuable. Luckily they were stupid theives. The left a nice tool kit, a long maglite, and my garage controller. I'm sure they could've found my address on my registration. Now I know not to leave my controller in the car now.

Anyone know how much a rear glass pane costs? I also need to replace my windshield since a rock hit it and cracked it.

My gf lives in a good part of San Francisco but it goes to show you that random crime does happen.

I forgot to mention that they dented the frame around the window when they were breaking the glass. I think they tried to wedge a screwdriver or something between the glass and seal but whatever they did, they pulled a little bit of the metal frame around the window outwards. I'm pissed.

Sorry to hear about this incident I think anyone of use would be pissed just knowing that our vehicle have been "violated". Good luck on getting a window and the installation if doing it yourself.

Sorry about your Jeep. :(

Does it not have the security group? Thats the good thing about it, if they do break out a window, it wont go off until they open a door, but at least they can only gets things in reach. They also couldnt take anything that was bigger than the window(subs, etc)..

Hope you get everything taken care of. :)

It's not so much the breaking of glass. It is when they pull up on the lock knob, and open the door that it goes off. Mine did it the other day in the garage. Had the window down, and just reached in to unlock it and all hell broke loose. :D I quickly shut the garage door while I figured out how to turn the thing off.

I do have a security system on it but I deactivated it. My fualt there. I did it becuase when I park it far from my gf's place, I can't hear it. I'm scared that the people that can hear it who are nearby will probably do more damage to it since I'm not around to shut it off. I know, that's a stupid reason. I'm going to keep it on from now on.
