I was curious as to how much the spring was compressed at full compression but I was surprised when I saw that my spring compressed to the point where the coils were touching each other. Count em there's 10 coils squished together in there

How spring compression batman, I thought they would do that, I am surprised the shock shft didn't poke a hole in the bottom of the shock body!

Ok tell us, you tied the frame down and jacked the wheel up, to do that.

He's Universe man, the picture was taken with him inside. These KJ's weren't supposed to hold up the WHOLE UNIVERSE (Google "Universe Man They Might be Giants")

I would say something is wrong with that picture. I don't think the strut is supposed to compress that far!

Is that lifted, or unlifted?

I dont realy see a problem it is not on the bump stop and that is what limits up travel
yeah a spring should not be compressed like that but as I under stand it all of the struts that can be put on a KJ are ok for factory bumpstop spacing
if that is so then he still has like 1/2" to go wich is fine as far as damage to the strut

I dont know what kind of spring that is but if it is a HD OME then that may be what heppens when they get compressed
This all goes back to the lessons that I learned the hard way when building my TJ
things like bumstop's and control arm location are based on stock if you change 1 aspect you should change them all

If you put HD springs that are taller then you should also extend the bumpstop as well as replace the "control" arms ,upper A arm, and so on
to put EVERYTHING back to factory angle's

I know that this is not possable with the KJ bu it is the "right way"

Thats how I compressed it, nothing fancy just good ol gravity :D and I had the wheel turned so I could see the spring just eneugh to take the picture. Anyway its just the stock CRD spring with a Rustys .75" spacer and a clevis lift, I actually want more lift in the front then what I have with my set up but after seeing the spring compressed like that theres obviously no room for a bigger spacer (I.E. Daystar 2.5 inch lift has a bigger spacer) but I was talking to All Js today about the new frankenlift and the new OME CRD spring has a 500lb spring rate and gives 1.5" of lift and they combine it with a new thinner spacer (Like the one I have) but it dosent sound like it will compress the spring any more then it is now so I'll have an extra 1.5" of lift (man reg Libertys sure have it easy)
